For today’s video, I visited Costco to purchase Prosecco and Champagne under the Kirkland Signature label. I picked up three bottles to taste and discuss. All three are typically available year-round; most often, they can be found in full pallet displays versus in the laydown bins. As for Prosecco, Kirkland Signature offers significant price savings over the big brands, typically around $5 to $8 per bottle.

The first wine up is the Kirkland Signature Asolo Prosecco Superiore DOCG from the Veneto region in NE Italy. It’s a higher classification than many of the big-brand Proseccos. The wine must be at least 85% Glera; it’s priced at $7.99.

Next up is the Kirkland Signature Prosecco Rose Extra Dry, which includes a small percentage of Pinot Nero to impart its pale rose color. The QR code on the back label provides a bit more story. The wine is priced at $8.49.

Next is the Kirkland Signature NV Brut Champagne, it’s made by Manuel Jannison, made from Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, and Pinot Meunier. The price had been $19.99 over the last few years; it’s now priced at $21.99

  1. Those shopping for Champagne in Costco shouldn't overlook the Alfred Gratien for about $45. If you like fresh, acidic sparkling wine, it's perfect for you.

  2. I laugh at myself. I had a flirtation with Prosecco some years ago, because I had a girlfriend who loved it. I enjoyed it, but when our relationship faded, so did my enthusiasm, and I seldom drink it. My go to sparkler remains Gruet blanc de noirs, a bit more pricey than the Kirkland wines, but a local product that is still affordable. There is a nearby Costco, though, and I really should tickle my palate with something different. Anyway, Bob, I always enjoy your videos. You combine expertise with an informal and non-stuffy approach. Cheers!

  3. Hi Bob. Well. We opened the Kirkland 10 year Tawny Friday night. Not bad. I can't explain it but even though it's stronger in alcohol compared to the Sherries I've tried .it just was easier to drink. Guess it's the aging. Question how long will it keep? Obviously i don't want it to go off and certainly can't drink more than a glass at a time unless I want to get tipsy lol. Thanks for the recommendation

  4. I have had the DOCG Prosecco, and it is bloody awful. I would rather pay a few bucks more for something like Rufino or Mionetto.

  5. Thanks for the video tasting. Have you ever tried the two California methode champenoise Trader Joe's sparklers that are typically available late in the year? This year they are selling for $14.99.

  6. Thanks for a great video! Sparkling wine is one area where Costco doesn’t do much for me. At times they have good cremant or cava, but the kirkland champagne at $20 never felt like a great deal for some reason. (And I just don’t like prosecco!)

  7. Advice, please, on where to buy sparkling wine glasses shaped as closely as possible to a true cone. Blessesd Apollonius of Perga, pray for us.

  8. Thanks Bob, I always have a bottle of Kirkland Proseco in my wine fridge. I haven’t tried the rose proseco. Let me know when a house goes on the market in your neighborhood. I want to be your neighbor and drink the wine you give away. LOL

  9. I can’t stand Prosecco, I will always choose Crémant at that price point. Tonight I’m enjoying a 2018 Dom. Caroline Bonnefoy Raseau

  10. I just read DavidSevyan's comment on cremant and cava. I'm new to Costco and am wondering if they carry any of these worth trying. (New subscriber here – this was an excellent video. Thank you so much for your expertise.)

  11. Yum, yum, yum!! I cannot wait to try all three of these wines! One can never have too many bottles of Prosecco or Champagne. LOL!

  12. My two cents. Not a fan an of the rose proseco. The regular is fine. But for $9 the La Granja cava brut at Trader Joes is much better. And I would substitute Roederer Estate for the Costco champ. Love though that you focus on what people can really find and can afford. Cheers to a happy 2026 Bob!

  13. Good Prosecco is not to be underestimated. I'm glad you're pushing it from your channel. On top of things, a Champagne that stays in character instead of dissipating into some bubbly and dry lemon juice, that's also a success in my book. Cheers!
