I tasted 21 of Aldi’s Specially Selected wines. These are the ones their buyers really believe in. Brave.
Some were glorious. Some were… memorable for other reasons. In the end, five wines actually made it. Let’s play.

Here are the wines:

  1. Rosorange is nice but don't over chill it, after 20 minutes outside in December weather it's ready to drink

  2. What about a Grapevine Merlot under £5 – have thought it great value! Very popular. When there are very few bottles left on a shelf, it is an indication of a 'good wine.'

  3. For a really good French cab franc have a look at the Chinon Wilfrid Rousse domaine, a Bio/Organic producer. His Clos de la Roche is spectacular.

  4. Nappy Valley Cab Sav, £13 from Aldi – an absolute banger. At 15% it was definitely a sit down but don’t plan on getting up wine 😂

  5. Cabernet Franc unavailable Dec 25. Cairanne delicious, especially at £4.99!! Only 2 per customer though.😋. Chablis also unavailable @ Dec 18th.

  6. A Premier Cru Chablis under £15? No wonder I can never find it on their shelves. If they were there I would snap up a case or two. Oh well, I guess I will have to keep paying my £25 to Waitrose when I’m in the market for a bottle of this golden nectar. 😅

  7. Great show. I appreciate knowing the abvs as unfortunately 13.5 is the max l’m allowed and wine gets stronger every year thanks to climate change I’m told.

  8. I am from New Zealand Tom well done a lot of wines we don’t get here but also some grape varieties I have not heard of will try and find them

  9. I am addicted to these videos – I live in Hong Kong, Shanghai and South Africa and love my wine – I once had a billionaire client who asked me at a meeting at the Raffles Hotel in Singapore if I “like” wine and how good would I like it to be ( not something someone ever said before ) —— and spending time in South Africa and thinking Pinotage and Sav B are the dogs bollox I said yes – anyway he decided to treat me to vintage champagne followed by “a lot of faff” decanted red in a carafe – it was a French wine costing 7,000 US a bottle ( immoral) and sadly it was so good my life is now ruined

  10. It would be more useful to have the vintages for your recommendations – Are you avoiding adding this for some reason? Enjoy the videos.

  11. Just came back from Australia to South Africa last week; spent two months there and could hardly afford anything, but found a very drinkable red in Aldi for $3.49 and the wife a Pinot Grigio for $5. Both from South Australia – and both cheaper and better than anything South Africa has in that price range. Excellent stuff! If anybody wants the brand names, I will post them.

  12. I was in S Africa for a month and their Rose, imho, is incredible. Their cheap Rose, blows away the nonsense Tesco sells.

  13. Intermingle Red Blend (California) from Aldi is Delicious. I'm not a big wine guy but having some right now and it's legit for $7.
