  1. Special thanks to Channel Members who made this episode possible!

  2. I am a big fan of Syrah especially those from cote rotie or hermitage made without seeing any new oak. Those wines actually feel burgudian with their elegance! Of course their prices are generally not great but every now and then…

  3. Koff traumatised by Shiraz 😀 He was open about it though so it Saul Goodman. I never had Shiraz, but I suspect I'd side with him there. I quite like Syrah, but Hermitage is mostly out of my price range.

  4. Totally agree on mullineux Syrah. They are outstanding, the prices are super high tho. As or more expensive than northern Rhone.

  5. I think Hermitage and northern Rhone Syrah are great . They cost a pretty penny but the bottles from the big negos producers like Guigal and Chapoutier aren’t too bad and really good from year to year.

  6. This year visited Cote Rotie, great wines surely, the higher end ones tend to not blend in any Viognier, so 100% Syrah, those wines need much more ageing when released though to show it’s full potential, ideally 10 years, so patience is a must, for immediate consumption and for good value I tend to buy St. Joseph which rarely disappoints 😊

  7. 와인소울 Min Elle님 피터쌤 모두 항상 응원합니다!!! 좋은 영상 감사해요!!!! 항상 잘 보고 있습니다!!!!

  8. I think he's not discribing Côte Rotie, but Cornas. I also think that Hermitage and Côte Rotie are in the same level (my favorite are Hermitage wines).

  9. I absolutely love watching these tastings with the MW, Elle, and Min
As a total wine beginner, I really appreciate how easy, friendly, and fun you make everything feel while still teaching so much.
The chemistry between the three of you is amazing, and every episode is both relaxing and educational.
Thank you for creating such great content — I always look forward to the next video!

  10. I agree about the Chave CduR – great value. I love Syrah (Cote Rotie, Hermitage, Cornas etc) but new world Shiraz, not so much.

  11. Great video! ❤ I doubt that Syrah will become my favorite, but I definitely have to try more of it. And I do like wine that puts hair on your chest. 😅 Peter is the best!

  12. Peter and patrick are the einsteins of wine.Fascinating ,interesting and articulate!Would love to see a video on high end wines from Priorat and Monstaat!

  13. To not have a high quality Rhone Syrah there was a real miss. Expensive or US/Australia bold Shiraz are quite different than even hot climate Rhone.

  14. Genetic origin: DNA testing shows the Syrah/Shiraz grape is the result of a crossing between two French varieties: Dureza and Mondeuse Blanche.

  15. Syrah is a favorite of mine. I love its classic characteristics like pepper and a hint of licorice. When it comes to value, Rhône wines punch above their weight—especially for European drinkers.

  16. Please try the syrahs from the Washington/Oregon border Milton-Freewater Rocks district. Horsepower, specifically. Pretty polarizing in their savory and funky character, but I LOVE them. And about as distinctive and identifiable as wine gets…

  17. I'm surprised by Peter's take on Syrah even though I know he loves his Bordeaux. Syrah can be terroir driven and complex. Personally, I think Australian Shiraz is often overdone. Hard to argue with the quality for $ of the Northern Rhone when compared to Burgundy and Bordeaux. Good examples from the US, SA, Chili. It really is a matter of taste! I'd rather have an aged Cote-Rotie than aged Bordeaux for equivalent price points.

  18. I'd like to see a couple of French people try and pronounce Shiraz, wonder if they would do a better job then the Afrikaanse and Dutch in the 1600 – 1700s 😉

  19. quite confusing for me. Peter didnt evaluate bretty wines. but is this European wine means the character?
