And this movie did middling box office when it was released. The greatest, most iconic movie of all time was not appreciated when it was released. Just figures.
Probably the most quoted movie in history. I use likes from it at semi odd times. Like at work we are talking about a meeting we had about something a year or two from before. I will say, “I remember every detail of it. The German’s wore grey, you wore blue.”
GREAT AMERICAN PRE WAR MOVIE FEATURING GREAT DIVERSE ACTORS. SCREENPLAY AND DIRECTOR WITH SPECIAL CARE TO THE SHADOWS OF THE MOVIE. THE MUSIC AND FRENCH NATIONAL ATHEM PLAYED FLAWLESSLY AND WITH FEELING.
The best part is Claude Rains' not bothering to lower his voice when he thanks the roulette guy for delivery of his gambling winnings–an honest hypocrite!
The actor who says 'your winnings sir' was a Jewish French movie producer who immigrated to Hollywood with his 18-yr old wife, she is the French actress at the beginning of the film who is in love with Rick and is escorted out of Rick's by Sasha the bar tender. She was also the last cast member of this incredible film to die, having lived till 2018.
Claude Rains is fantastic in this movie. He's slimy, smug and ingratiating. A sly reference to the French Vichy Government at the time. But throughout the movie he seems to know a whole more than he's letting on to.
I have watched Casablanca many times and it is still one of my favorite movie of the Early days of Hollywood. Back when actors were patriots instead of a bunch of lowlife piece of garbage thinking that they are in titled to tell people who they should vote for because of their so called statice. That is why I don't watch any new movies anymore because they are all a bunch of Nazi sheep who would Rather follow Hilary Clinton to Hell Rather than to think for themselves.

In Hollywood back in the day, every character that was foreign had a posh British accent, LOL.
That's one of the best films ever made that I never get tired of watching.
Darkness is closed down now.
"I am shocked shoked to find that gambling is going on in here"
"Your winning Sir"
"Oh thankyou, very much, Everybody out at once"
He found an excuse to shut the place..
Are my eyes really brown ? !
Still commandeering after being outed.😂

the begin of a wonderful friendship
No other movie has as many memorable lines. And Claude Rains got most of them. This was the best. Another is…..
Major Strasser, "You give him credit for too much cleverness. My impression was that he's just another blundering American".
Captain Renault, "We mustn't underestimate 'American blundering. I was with them when they 'blundered' into Berlin in 1918."
Best movie ever made.
The end of that scene is where Rick goes after the croupier. Why screw it up with you little graphics?
His heart is his least vulnerable spot, as well
My favorite line:
Rick: I just lost 20 thousand; I'd like to get it back
Louis: make it 10, I'm just a poor corrupt official
My favorite line from the film!
Years ago the American Film Convention published a poster of the 100 most quoted lines from American films.
13 of them were from Casablanca.
The next closest, which if I remember correctly was Gone With The Wind, had three.

Rains as Captain Renault gave what for my money is the greatest supporting performance in movie history.
One day…😮❤

I've used that like countless time and almost no one gets it.
I say “I’m Shocked Shock”
A least once a week
My favorite line in the whole movie- I get a real kick out of it.
How you do anything is how you do everything
… mądry policjant hm nie widział tego czego nie trzeba ..❤
Rick's Cafe Americain, a cyberpunk bar without the cyber.
I absolutely adore this movie!❤️
"I like to think you killed a man
It's the romantic in me."

Probably the best performance by Claude Rains, in a long career of fantastic performances.
You see that French Chief of Police takes his winnings
One of the great scripts. Some lines have gone on to become regularly used expressions. A bit like Shakespeare.
Spoken like a true politician!
Lmfao this came up on my trip! This movie is hilarious as it is a classic.
Marvellous. I'm shocked, shocked to find that Gambling is going on in here. Your winnings Sir. Oh, Thanku very much….😅

Give him credit for not missing a beat when he's handed his winnings.
