French fries didn’t start in France, they actually come from Belgium! In the 1600s, Belgians fried thin strips of potato as a snack. American soldiers discovered them during World War I and called them “French fries” because of the French language in Belgium. Today, they’re one of the world’s most popular foods, loved alongside burgers, sandwiches, and more. 🍟
