  1. hey have yall ever used Kelp Tea for seasoning? It’s sometimes drank as normal tea in japan, but it could be used for seasonings and marinades. just wanted to know if you used anything similar

  2. I make it with the bread and cheese on top and broiled but I also put bread on the side or a grilled cheese. For you bread lovers try it you can never dip enough. You can also make a French dip and use the French onion soup to dip it…take that French 😅

  3. to chefs it may be about the stock. To the customer it is about the cheese. A lot of people don't eat all the onions and broth. I know from watching what comes back from the dining room.

  4. I am French, and as we always say about the 'broomstick up the butt' Brits is: England, the land of a 1000 castles and only one sauce. There, it's been said. Lol

  5. In my experience, adding vegetables to stock introduces an undesirable sweetness and musty flavor if simmered for longer than an hour or so.

  6. I've always heard "don't crowd the pan" for caramelized onions but then only ever see people FILLING pans when making them. I'm confused. 🥲 i obviously want to end up with jammy onions like his so i guess I'll try super-crowding

  7. As a French, what bother me the most is the comté. You didn't put nearly enough, for my own soup I would quadruple the amount.

  8. The Worcestershire sauce doesn't bother me, it adds a bit of umami kick into the soup, personally I add a bit of soy sauce and some vinegar (cider vinegar, for me), and it works wonderfully

Oh and I'm french, don't take my word for it, but it's a recipe, do it how your heart (and your mouth) feels !

  9. Why does every restaurant have the lion head soup bowls?!?! I'm not even British and i've only seen these with onion soup!

  10. Why didn't you add cheese? Like you hinted at the existence of cheese. But a good french onion should have cheese overflowing into the parking lot

  11. people here acting like a recipe is perfect. Different regions, countries, flavors, and styles exist. nothing is ever perfect

  12. It's called French Onion Soup, of course, it's not all about the onion, it's in the name. You need the soup to be good, and having the Frenchman be prepared well is also important.
