Journey to the Château, Ep. 350 – In this episode, Patrick and Stuart meet up with friends Tony and Jane to attend a Salon de Antiquités in a former convent in the French town of Châteauroux. They also work on some furnishings for the Chateau de Colombe Dining Room. This time they are working on a set of console wall shelves, and Patrick shows the step by step on how to apply the sizing, leaf gilding and final patina.

That looked fun!!
Beautiful 57 second opening. Thanks for showing how to leaf gild. 💜
Oh Patrick, you are such an excellent teacher! You make the gilding process look so easy, and yet I know it would be an unmitigated disaster should I even approach a sheet of gold leaf! Lovely result. I like the patina effect on it too, to add age. What a wonderful venue for the antique fair. So many gorgeous items, but I suspect it was all pretty pricey! Great episode! Cheers! ❤️😘🥂
Wow! Magical opening footage. Beautiful music. Thanks for the "gilding" and room fragrance lessons. Loved the antiques, especially the furniture.
Love love love a bit of gilding 😍 and it’s good to see the steps for those who don’t know how much goes into doing it ! Lovely little shelves as well, ❤ to you both
A very informative vlog and I loved that room divider so beautiful.😊
What a lovely video Patrick. Teaching how to guild …. absolutely wonderful. Thankyou. Tips and tricks that are very valuable. ❤❤
Patrick your so knowledgeable in not just gilding. So skilled.
Outrageous beginning with the foggy landscape and new music. Amazing antiques. 🥰
Great video, some amazing items at that antiques fair 🥰
Great video. Thanks for sharing your talents Patrick and Stuart ❤
I really enjoyed the beginning footage of the fog mixed in with all the fall foilage Stuart, gives such a mystical feel to everything. You are very talented with your videography! Thank you so much Patrick for the lesson on gilding…was very informative. So what did you buy? Inquiring minds want to know. Sending you both and the fur babies so much love! ❤😊❤
Sublime gilding and what an antiques market…great pieces looking really expensive 🫣🥴
The screen at the antique fair was lovely, I suspect it was quite a few euros. Gilding looks good.
💜💙💚
Loved the lesson on making room spritzer. I actually made some myself and it worked!
I love your explanation of gilding. Thank you. Aside from that, you are so fortunate to be able to go to brocontes like the one you went to today. I would have been checking price tags of the clocks and the dressers, the small desks and tables and the place setting before standing on my tippy toes to price the chandeliers. Congrats for your restraint!
A wonderful lesson. thank you. Ronnie in Saskatchewan
Gorgeous antiques at the fair.
Ok. Can't remember if I commented, but heck, I'll just comment again.😅 I loved the opening with the mist and the breeze thru the foilage and the always beautiful flowers. You have the knack Stuart. Not sure if I could do that gilding Patrick You did do a great tutorial and on the scents you create.🎉 lower for the sconces I think. Any great finds at the brocante?
Finally, someone demystified gilding. Everyone else makes gilding look so difficult. Thank you. 😊
You should list the products u use to gild im very interested in the products you have used ☺️
Love your helpers🤗💗🐾🐾🐾
Thanks for the great lesson on gilding.
It looks fun to do, and now nothing is safe in my house!
My dogs look slightly worried…😅❤
Aloha Patrick and Stuart, the gilding of the sconces is truely magnificent craftsmanship. The antiques were so beautiful. That bureau at about 23:05 screamed,”Chateau de Coulombe!” It’s nice that you have Tony and Jane to shop with. Stuart, your photography work is impeccable. Loved seeing the poochies.
What a treat to watch your videos!
Thank you for the detailed gilding demonstration. Now I'm mulling what in my life needs to be gilded…
