John, thank you so much for such a fantastic video. As a massive fan of Spanish/Rioja wines, this is such excellent information and highly enjoyable content. Keep up the great work and thank you once again! 👌🔥🍷🇪🇸
Great effort you sure put a lot of work here, Great Video, love it!! I was this friday in cvne whit Mr.Peru, and taste the good stuff the Corona gran reserva and the Monopole gran Reserva (this was my favourite) outstanding. I visit a lot more of bodegas and wine bars (benjamin romeo, Izadi, Ukan!!!!, Pujanza, Artuke, Artadi!!!, Baigorri, and a few more). I like more Rioja Alavesa they want to go outside of Rioja and i hope they do because the D.O. restrain them too much, but if you want a classic Rioja Haro is the place to be.
P.D: If you can find 2001 from Rioja you will love it, better year since 1964 yes some years like 2004 100parker ok but ask in Cvne (or Rioja Alta or Marques de Murrieta) they will tell you 2001 was super special.
I was expecting that you would also mention Torre Muga. That wine appears like a mystery to me. It is released much sooner than Prado Enea but costs the same, if not more. I have three of them (2019) in my cellar. I'm not sure if I should drink them sooner or let them age for a while.
Such great information.
Great video! Three bottles of a 2019 Rioja reserva were amongst the first bottles in my wine collection. The plan was always to age two of them and now I’m even more excited! Cheers 🥂
Fantastic video. Will absolutely buy some of these. Thank you.
Love Rioja wines … the commitment to age them to maturity is impressive!
Great as usual 👍
I find myself resisting prices above $40 or so for Rioja, but looks like I might need to overcome that prejudice. Another great video, John; great detail and depth.
Enjoyed the video. One interesting thing you might enjoy next time in Spain is visiting some of the smaller artisanal wineries and comparing them to their larger parent like Luis Canas owns the excellent Amaren. Similar in Ribera is Ceja (cepa 21) owned by emilio moro. Baigori and Ysios in Rioja are nice and i think you already visited lopez de heredia. If you go to Ribera you also cant miss pago de carovegas. Just sharing my thoughts as a spanish wine fan. I enjoy your content and thanks for your posts. Great job
Thank you so much for such a thorough and enjoyable video! I do enjoy the Contino Blanco and the La Rioja Alta 904 that you have referenced a few times in other videos. I have added some of the 2015 904's to my collection.
Very timely release, as I have been looking to start focusing on Spanish wines in my cellar. Thank you – very informative.
Great video and great wineries! Spain has some top quality wines at incredible prices points. I had an CVNE Imperial 2010 yesterday and amazing how it holds.
I recently tryed a chateau ''Le Caillou'' 2016 Pomérol which I enjoyed a lot. JS 94% $56 in Canada , probably $35-40 in the USA. Very good QPR, very ''hidden gem''. Have you tried it ? Please let the secret out !
Thank you so much! such an interesting video 🙂
A Rioja was the first more sophisticated bottle I ever tried after getting curious about what was beyond Three Buck Chuck, Woodbridge, etc….
