Baking a great baguette isn’t difficult, but to get to bake this bread to success, it takes 3 P’s, little Planning, Practice & Patience.
In a nutshell, cut open the baguette & be hit with flavours signifying a perfectly fermented dough exposing amazingly soft texture.
My favourite way to eat these are while its still hot, out of the oven, with the steam still on your face, in every bite. Kids love it with a generous spread of butter smeared or a delicious mayo-pepper fill, begging a shredded chicken or cheese stuffing.

*Ingredients:*
4 cups Whole Wheat Flour~ high fiber / protein(11.5 – 14%)~ Chakki Atta (stone-ground wheat)
1/2 tsp Pink salt
1 tsp Sugar
1 tbsp Yeast
Lukewarm water(as required)

*Method:*
Combine all the dry ingredients & mix them with lukewarm water to yield a soft & mildly sticky dough. Cover & set aside for 45 min until it doubles in size. Knead further by only stretching, lifting & inward slap technique. You could choose to repeat this step with another 10 min. Divide dough into equal sized portions. Spread one portion with fingers. Fold inwards from top as well as bottom & pinch & seal the edges. Roll out the dough tapering them on the sides. Repeat the process with all portions. Arrange them over a butter paper with partitions in between. Dust them with flour & make neat slits over the top surface. Cover & set aside for 10 min. Pre-heat an oven with water tray & Bake for 15 – 20 mins at 250 degree Celsius, until an even golden brown crust.
It really doesn’t get a lot better than this. Amaze yourself with this quick & easy bread
Happy Baking!

*✨Pro Tips & Secrets:*
Get baguette’s, like at the professional bakers~
~Use bread flour with higher protein & fiber content → stronger gluten, better rise.
~Don’t rush fermentation. While there are longer cold overnight retardation fermentation methods, this 1.5 hour cumulative fermentation at humid room temperature works just as fine, with deeper flavour & better structure.
~Steam is crucial → place a tray of hot water in your oven to mimic a bakery’s steam injection.
~Score at a shallow angle for controlled expansion & that classic baguette pattern.

🚫 Dos & Don’ts of Baguette Baking:
✅ Stretch & fold the dough instead of over-kneading → preserves structure.
✅ Let the dough rest sufficiently long enough for yeast & enzymes to work.
❌ Don’t add too much flour when shaping → it prevents proper sealing.
❌ Don’t skip preheating → baguettes need intense initial heat for oven spring.
❌ Don’t cut too deep when scoring → it collapses the loaf.

🔬 The Science Behind the Recipe:
~Amazing Hydration(70–75%) creates an open crumb with irregular holes, typical of French baguettes, retaining a lot of moisture in the inside, for signature soft & chewy interior.
~Gluten network: Developed through folding, it traps CO₂ from yeast, making bread airy.
~Maillard reaction: The golden caramelized crust forms when sugars & proteins interact at high heat.
~Steam: Delays crust formation, allowing maximum oven spring before sealing in texture.

🔥 Why this Video is Different:
~This Homemade easy Baguette from Moms kitchen hand-book is an everyday bread, with ‘No added oil’ at all.
~No preservatives or raising agents.
~Very high in fibers, due to the choice of 100% whole wheat flour.
~Most tutorials show you the steps, but here you’ll also discover why each step matters. ~Understanding bread baking science of fermentation, gluten & baking reactions will take your bread from good to professional bakery-level.
