French Toast Recipe
INGREDIENTS
6 thick bread slices (preferable brioche)
4 eggs
1 cup whole milk (or half and half for extra flavor)
1 tbsp sugar
1 tsp vanilla extract
a pinch of salt
Butter

INSTRUCTIONS
1. In a wide bowl, whisk together 4 eggs, 1 cup of whole milk, 1 tablespoon sugar, 1 teaspoon vanilla extract, and a pinch of salt until smooth and well combined.
2. Slice brioche bread into thick 1-inch slices. Dip each slice into the egg mixture, soaking for about 15 seconds on each side so it absorbs without getting soggy.
3. Heat a skillet over low heat and melt a little butter. Place the soaked bread slices in the skillet, cover with a lid, and cook for 4 minutes. Cooking it this way will help the center cook properly.
4. Flip and cook the other side for another 4 minutes, until golden brown.
5. Transfer to a wire rack or plate. (The wire rack helps keep the French toast crisp instead of soggy.)

BERRY COMPOTE
INGREDIENTS
1 cup berries (frozen or fresh)
4 tbsp sugar
1 tbsp lemon juice

INSTRUCTIONS
1. In a small saucepan, add 1 cup frozen berries, 4 tablespoons sugar, and 1 tablespoon lemon juice.
2. Cover and cook on low heat for 5 minutes, then uncover and simmer for 10–15 minutes until the compote thickens.

TOPPING IDEAS
Option 1: Dust with powdered sugar and cinnamon powder, then drizzle with maple syrup.
Option 2: Add lots of fresh berries and maple syrup for a bright, refreshing touch.
Option 3: Spoon warm berry compote over each slice and finish with whipped cream.
