President Trump praised French President Macron as “a friend” Monday at the United Nations General Assembly, and credited him with helping to settle international conflicts.
Macron emphasized unity in backing Ukraine against Russia and the two leaders discussed the toll of the Ukraine war, as well as the need for peace in Europe and the Middle East. On their long-standing personal relationship, they joked about past trade disputes over wine.
