In this video, we visit two of Melbourne’s highest-rated bakeries that are winning awards and blowing us away with their incredible pastries! 🥐🍮

First stop is Artisanal Bakehouse in Bentleigh, an authentic French patisserie run by a passionate French chef. This bakery has won Australia’s Best Almond Croissant award — and after tasting it, we can see why! Buttery, flaky, rich with almond flavor and even hints of cinnamon and apple… it was next-level. Their pistachio croissant was a game-changer too, proving just how intense and unique pistachio can be when done right. And to our surprise, we also found the best sausage roll we’ve ever had — with pastry so soft and flaky it melted in our mouths.

Next, we head to Baker Bleu, famous for its artisan bread but also home to Melbourne’s best Portuguese egg tarts. With a line out the door, expectations were high — and they did not disappoint! The pastry was crunchy and buttery, while the custard filling was rich, eggy, and perfectly sweet. Truly a must-try.

  1. Local here.. they do have amazing stuff there at artisanal bakery.. top notch pastries 👌

  2. Love Bentleigh . Thanks for your channel, bemused by your pronunciation of almond. Big shout-out for Ngon in Highett. Lovely food.

  3. I used to own and operate a patisserie and I take my hats off to these small independent bakeries. It's bloody hard work (very early start and most open 7 days a week for very small margins. Let's all support them.

  4. Check out Maison Arnaud in Huntingdale, not far from the train station. And a few blocks away is Chef Wong.

Really good croissants, and very underrated.

  5. haha No Way, you went to both Baker Bleu and Artisanal Bentleigh. They're my bakeries. Everything from Baker Bleu is crazy delicious🤤 They make the best sourdough bread in Australia. It's all about the crust. Check out their site.
And YES, both the sausage roll and almond croissant from Artisanal are life changing🤤 Great episode😋🙏

  6. Bentleigh has the most beautiful of Vietnamese bakeries like Molly Dene in Centre rd, a Bentleigh staple for locals.

  7. Guys.. you were in Bentleigh and didn’t go to Lumos in McKinnon or South Levain in Chadstone? Missed opportunity 🥲 easily the best bakeries in Melbourne (the ones you went to here are still good, don’t get me wrong but not in the same ball park as the other two I mentioned). Definitely should check them out

  8. Crusty bits are AWESOME!
Agree that ham & cheese anything needs decent kick of mustard.
Those Portuguese tarts are on my Bucket List… and I'm in Queensland. Will probably never experience the joy of those tarts.
    Lucky, lucky Melbourne foodies!

  9. I love anything with almonds! So definitely on my list. The problem is that there are too many great places in Melbourne and not enough time to get to all of them. lol

  10. Oh man, love this vid and used to live in Bentleigh…. Love both Artisanal AND Noisette as well as the other good places along Centre Road. Well done!

  11. Artisinal Bakehouse has another branch just a few meters away with indoor seating in a lovely local grocers ❤

  12. 292 Centre Rd, Bentleigh VIC 3204 . They also have a shop here inside this local mini market , Check it out. It really cool😊

  13. Thanks, now the queue will be 40 mins at my favourite bakery now 🙂 Try their bread next time. Love your channel

  14. You guys have to try Casa Nata for Portuguese tarts. I've been to the original bakery in Portugal that started the Portuguese tarts and the Casa Nata ones are better!

  15. Artisanal Bakehouse is the reason I live in the area and I plan to stick with the area as long as they are in business. We go there at least 2 times a week. Glad it’s getting noticed
