French Pepper Steak with Creamy Peppercorn Sauce (Steak au Poivre):

Indulge in a classic French steak recipe that’s full of flavor and elegance! This peppercorn steak with creamy sauce is the perfect dish for a romantic dinner, a special occasion, or a delicious homemade treat. Simple, authentic, and absolutely mouthwatering.

🥩 Ingredients (per 1 serving):
1 Beef Steak (ribeye, sirloin, or filet mignon)
2 tbsp Black peppercorns, crushed
2 tbsp Butter
25-50 ml Heavy cream
50 ml Brandy or Cognac (optional, for flambé)
Pepper & Salt to taste

👩‍🍳 How to make French Pepper Steak:
1 Crush the peppercorns and press them onto both sides of the steak, you can add some sea salt as welt.
2 Heat butter in the pan, sear steak 2–3 minutes per side (medium)
3 While the steak are still in the pan, add cognac and flambé – flames will sear in the flavor (be carefull please)
4 Then remove the steak and let it rest on the side. Wrap some aluminium foil around it to keep it warm

In the same pan, now add the heavy cream. Simmer until thick and creamy, season with pepper, and if you like, some peppercorns.

Pour the peppercorn sauce over the steak and serve immediately.

Great and tasty with belgian fries and a salad.
