Ingredients
● Kings Hawaiian Original Hawaiian Sweet Rolls
● 5 onions sliced thin
● 1 tablespoon chopped parsley
● 1 tablespoon chopped thyme
● 1 tablespoon Italian seasoning
● 4 slices of Swiss cheese
● 1/4 cup shredded Gruyere cheese
● 1 pound ground beef
● 1 pound ground sausage
● 1/4 cup Italian seasoned bread crumbs
● 1/4 cup red wine
● 1/4 cup beef stock
● 2 tablespoons olive oil
Recipe
1. Cut rolls in half lengthwise, toast in the oven and set aside
2. Combine ground beef, pork, bread crumbs, herbs, egg, cheese and seasoning into a mixing bowl and form golf ball sized meatballs
3. Place meatballs on a wire rack into the oven at 350 degrees for 30 minutes or until internal temperature reaches 150 degrees
4. Place onions into a large pan on the stove over medium low heat with olive oil and let them caramelize for 30-40 minutes.
5. Deglaze the onions with wine and beef stock, stirring occasionally while it simmers and reduces.
6. Assemble slider by placing down swiss cheese, meatballs, onions, gruyere cheese and top of rolls. Place in the oven at 350°F for 10 minutes to melt the cheese, then cut apart and serve!
