Food Pairing
Spicy Spanish foods or heavy red meats.
I’ve paired this wine with a Spanish rice dish made with chorizo sausage.
Tasting Notes & Wine Lover’s Perspectives
Dark and inky, velvety lush aromas, reminiscent of Bordeaux blends, very tannic, tight, full and deep. Cloying and sucks the life right out of you. Deep plumy stone fruit.

Why This Wine Made It Into My Cellar
I attended a food and wine pairing diner where these wines were featured. We were able to learn about these wines, and the Uruguayan wine industry at large from the next generation of the Deicas family who are carrying the tradition. I was delighted to place an order for a few bottles to add to my cellar for the right food and occasion.
About the Winery
Familia Deicas https://www.familiadeicas.com/
As a gesture of gratitude for Uruguay’s cancellation of a debt after World War II, the French government granted Uruguay the right to produce Cognac. The Deicas family acquired the prestigious Cognac Juanicó Estate in 1979 and began growing noble French varietals, leading to truly World class wines.
