  1. I always have the best time watching her.
I remember as a child being plopped down in front of the television and she was my favorite comedian.
As a kid, I didn’t realize she was serious.
All these years later, she is still teaching me.
    RIP, Gentle Lady
    💕☮️💕

  2. I just want to point out this lady is using a silicone spatula well before most people I knew were using them. She also has an automatic dispensing cellophane machine?! She must be living in the future

  3. She was obviously furious and passively aggressively digging at production from the start and throughout: it takes time, don't let anyone rush you, it needs to go slow etc. etc. SORRY Julia, you are not the one paying people to stand around for hours and hours for your dough to "take time".

  4. this must have been a proud moment for Julia as she and her time worked tirelessly to develop a perfect baguette recipe.

  5. this makes me so happy. I remember watching her as a child. Thank you so much for sharing/hosting this.

  6. Though she does her darndest to make French cooking accessible to regular Americans, Julia shows us here how the making of baguettes requires skill, intuition, and a lot of practice.

And still there remains an elusive intangible: French flour. The good news: genuine French flour is available reasonably priced from Amazon and other vendors.

To transfer her technique to my conventional oven, I use a pizza stone instead of tiles, and on the bottom rack a cookie sheet containing hot water.
