Henry Laporte is famous on TikTok, but you might know him better as Salt Hank. His videos of his often over-the-top culinary creations have been viewed millions of times, and he’s even written a cookbook. Next up is Salt Hank’s, a sandwich shop in the West Village of Manhattan that serves one thing: Hank’s French Dip sandwich.

Hank claims the French Dip as his favorite sandwich and also that — after testing, researching and planning the recipe for years — his version might be the best.

  1. Watching him on TikTok in the beginning I could tell the man just LOVED food no filter just a care and excitement that few still have and I couldn’t think of a better person to do this. I wish nothing but the best. And we know it’s the beef dripping in the aujus

  2. Bread dipped in watery substance… i didn't have particularly high standards going into 2025 but damn, this is rough…

  3. Cool story! I spent most of my teenage years and 20s ordering chicken fried steaks and French dip sandwiches at every restaurant I went to. I still love them both, his French dip looks amazing!

  4. This sandwich looks amazing I intend to make a straight line to Salt Hanks once I'm back in the city.

But the question I can't help but ask is…. How does someone who started on Tik Too afford to do something like this not only in NYC, but at that location and in a very nicely done space with fully stocked kitchen with what looks to be a very competent experienced staff?

  5. With the beef prices now no surprise that they charge 28 bucks for a sandwich. But still, thats quite a price. And you dont even have a drink to go with it.

  6. When he said "wanna see the marbling, I was expecting amazing marbling, that marbling barely qualifies for prime it looks like.
    Really looks like a choice.

  7. There’s nothing I love more than the combination or beef and onions, I know I’d love this!
