French Bread Baguette Recipe from Scratch
Ingredients
1 tablespoon sugar
2 cups 110 degree water
2 packages yeast
6 cups flour
2 teaspoons salt
2 tablespoons EVOO (Extra Virgin Olive Oil)
1 egg white
First:
1 tablespoon sugar
2 cups 110 degree water
2 packages yeast
Wait 10-12 minutes until foamy
In large bowl mix flour EVOO salt and yeast water mixture. Combine until it forms one piece. Knead 5 minutes on floured cutting board. Place in coated bowl let rise covered for 1 hour. Knead 5 more minutes. Roll out on baking sheet and score with knife. Brush with egg white. Cover with aluminum foil and bake 20 minutes at 400 degrees. Remove, brush with egg white a second time and cook another 20 minutes uncovered until golden brown.
