A special guest joins me as we talk about the cultural differences between France and USA.

In this chat, my friend and I open a bottle of wine and get real about life in the South of France. From local discoveries to daily habits, we share our personal insights on what makes the French lifestyle unique.

  1. Wealth of information! A plus for your accents. I have only lived in Oklahoma and Georgia. Planning on a long stay visa with retirement income. Thank you for the candid conversation.

  2. Entretien très intéressant. Content de voir que vous vous plaisez en France. C'est un plaisir d'avoir des personnes comme vous! Soyez les bienvenus!
The border between France and Spain was drawn in 1659 by Louis XIV when Roussillon (Northern Catalonia), except the town of Llivia, was given away to the French.
Zed, never tell a Catalan that his language is a blend of French and Spanish or a dialect! They might kill you! LOL.

Toulouse in south-west but Perpignan is due South or south-east, if you like.

  3. I bought a patch of land just to the south of the Perpignan city centre and I got my Permis de Construire and will be starting to build a house there next month. I am currently Paris based and while no city is perfect, I find Perpignan offers really good value for money. Yeah it's got some rough edges, but there's a lot of modernisation and gentrification going on and this along with its fantastic location between the sea and mountains, close proximity to big cities like Barcelona, Toulouse, Montpellier etc. I am betting that Perpignan will continue to draw new residents, which in turn will add a stronger dynamic to the local economy.
