  2. So wonderful that you are sharing your mother and grand-mother's way of eating. I grew up eating this way; I loved bread with real butter and marmalade…it was a treat. I think they ate better in those days and having a garden or going to the market everyday makes for delicious healthy meals. No one used a fridge for food, except for cold water or ice! Those were the good old days that we can try to re-create, but not quite the same because the world has changed.

  3. I had a chuckle for having Fish on a Friday. 😂 That is a very catholic habit to have fish on a Friday. But I believe a good habit to remind you to eat fish and not only meat. 😊❤ When I was staying with a Fri in France they also had jam, butter and bread in the morning.

  4. Hello. Very impressive video. I like everything you made. Everything you present is authentic and beautifully prepared.
The eggs en cocotte are especially delicious.
In June I spent a month in the Vienne department and stayed at a chamber d’hote in Hiams for two nights which had an excellent restaurant. One of my favorite offerings was the chef’s take on eggs carbonara consisting of cream, parmigiana cheese, lardons with a poached egg. So delicious. Perfect for breakfast, lunch or dinner.
Thank you for posting your videos. I look forward to seeing them.
    Joseph.

  5. What delicious food!
I am wondering if you ever make savory crêpes. I’m not a fan of pork, so the only one I make is a crêpe de sarrasin with blue cheese & walnuts a 🇫🇷 friend taught me. I’m looking for other ideas if you might have any for a new video. Merci, Madame!

  6. Interesting experiment, thanks! Your mother’s breakfast looks like mine, toast with butter and jam, coffee. I was surprised to see salad eaten after the main course, instead of before. I wonder what the reasoning is behind that?
And the fish in caper sauce recipe looks great! I’d like to try that!

  7. Breakfast: one slice of bread cut in half. Coffee is small – American standards. Do children drink coffee/wine/alcohol? Is there an alternative too? At what age do the French start drinking coffee and alcohol?

  8. Very interesting. The only thing I found lacking was breakfast, far too light for me as a runner and weightlifter. Surprised me really how light. My breakfast and lunch are moderate, and dinner is light. I do my best to follow the French tradition of no snacking.

  9. This is very like what we ate when I was a kid in New Zealand – and our family came from the Limoges area of France, so I guess they held the traditions.

  10. Hi everyone. I'm a 40 year-old French working mum and this is the type of food I feed my family. Indeed we eat lunch around 12 or 12h30 and it is the biggest meal of the day but always with vegetables. The only difference nowadays is that breakfast are not always made of bread butter and jam. Sometimes the kids eat cereal which I try to limit because of the high amount of sugar. Tonight we're having rice salad with lettuce and melon for dessert ❤.

  11. I live is french switzerland, and I found a great french childrens book "je sais le faire", where many skills are explaimed and taught. Making a schoolday breakfast is one of them😊 and it's lait au chocolat et tartine au miel. I also grew up with that breakfast as a swiss german. We had honey bees and fruit trees. So lots of jam. On sunday we had soft boiled eggs also. And my dad always made porridge for a while, but that never kept me satiated. The wholegrain bread did.

  12. What lovely food. Healthy and delicious. I have made caper sauce like this, it's wonderful with fish. We also make our own jam from garden fruits, I have just picked a bowl of blackberries today.
