Ingredients
pizza dough (pizza dough recipe at preppykitchen.com)
tomatoes only from a 28 oz can of whole tomatoes
2 Tbsp chopped fresh basil
salt
1/2 lb fresh mozzarella cheese

Preheat oven to 500f with a baking steel or stone
In a bowl, add your whole tomatoes. Crush with your hands, add your basil and salt. Mix together, then set aside.
After your pizza dough has doubled in size, divide in half and roll into balls. Place into a greased bowl , cover and let rest for 25 more minutes.

Take one of your dough balls and using your fist, punch out the crust. Then stretch your dough until roughly a foot in circumference. Place on a lightly floured pizza peel. Add a couple spoonfuls of your sauce, some mozzarella slices and a few whole basil leaves. Using your pizza peel, slide your pizza onto your pre-heated pizza stone. Cook for about 10-12 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and the dough is puffed and lightly browned.

Slice and enjoy!!!

  1. Really good, but no point mixing the oil in with the yeast. Let the yeast and water combine and then add the oil later on. Will lessen the need to oil the bowl for your first prove.

  3. 1 minute History Lesson : Pizza was originally a peasant food until Queen Margarita and her husband discovered it's aroma while traveling through the road. She left her carriage towards the aroma and ordered the street vendor to make her one of those. The vendor made a simple pizza with just tomato sauce, cheese and a lil basil on top to make it look fancy. The queen absolutely loved it and asked for the recipe so she can order her royal chef to make these in the palace. That is how this pizza got it's name "Margarita Pizza', after the queen who made pizza a desirable delicacy in Italy.

  4. I wish it was this quick. The art of editing turned a 24 hour process into less than a minute lol. I love making my own za but needing to prep a day in advance is crazy to me. I typically do not know what I want for dinner till I am about to make it.
