French pastry breakdown! Of course, these are not ALL the pastries in the French bakery scene. I left out some of my personal favorites, and many of the “patisserie” or sugary sweet treats that you’ll find in most French pastry shops.

My goal of this short was just to focus on some of the baked goods that you’ll find in most BOULANGERIEs or bakeries in France, so that travelers will feel more comfortable trying something new.

Just try what looks good, the only way to mess up is if you only get a croissant and baguette because you’re afraid to try something new.

  1. Of course, these are not ALL the pastries in the French bakery scene. I left out some of my personal favorites, and many of the "patisserie" or sugary sweet treats that you'll find in most French pastry shops. If I missed your favorite, I'm sorry. Please explain it to everyone else in a comment, and then it will be a part of this video's "footnotes." Thanks.

  2. My boyfriend is French Canadian and gets very unreasonably upset when a bakery calls it pain au chocolat instead of chocolatine. He starts swearing in French about French people. It's kind of adorable. 😂

  3. Pain suisse can have many different nanes from bakery to bakery could be named "suisse, petite suisse, torsade (cuz sometimes it's twisted)"

  4. The detail of changing your way to show 3 with your fingers from the English way to the French way.

    Chef’s kiss.
    Merci l’ami.

  5. The pronounciation is nearly perfect bravo 🙌🏾 firs time hearing a non french speaker calling a chocolatine like so 👌🏾
