Gordon returns to La Riviera – now renamed Abstract – a fine dining restaurant in Inverness. Owned by multi-millionaire Barry Larson and costing £8,000 a week to run, the place boasted top French chef Loic Lefebvre and an impeccably-trained kitchen staff, all of them on a mission to bring sophisticated French cooking to the home of the haggis, but the locals weren’t biting and the restaurant was mostly empty.

That French guy needs to get a grip
I've always wanted so much success for Loic, and seeing this pop up in my feed decided to make me look him up. His last name is Lefebvre and from what I could find he split with Barry (no idea why other than "a disagreement") and opened his own restaurant in France in 2009 where he finally won a Michelin star. To my knowledge it has maintained that star to this day. He is also still with Caroline (though I don't think they ever officially married). From the more recent pictures I've seen of them, they both look great! They actually look just about the same as they did here in this old episode in fact! The pictures of his restaurant's dishes in the Michelin guide also looked great!
Flashy ego or atmosphere mean nothing to me , it's about good food !!!! My son and I used to go to a place in Pa. called Lee's hoagie house , simple booths . comfortable and clean but the food was fresh and amazing !!!!! Not just hoagies , all kinds of sandwiches , freshly cut fries as they made them and beer battered the onion rings right front of you !!!!! The were packed all the time , take out , made about 5,000$ a day , standing room only been there probably 40 years+ always full !!!!! There biggest complaint not enough staff for the flow !!!! But the people there were awesome and personable and very friendly !!!!! The key is give the people what they want , that simple !!!!!
ho ho ho
This food puts the lotion on the skin, or else it gets the hose again
The restaurant Abstract in Inverness, Scotland, is no longer open. It closed in 2009 due to the economic recession. Lo and behold, Contrast Brasserie is still open.
Silent of the lamb? More like pretentiously french
"best part, THEYRE ALL WEMON" best motivation😭
I work in this restaurant today, no French chefs left in the kitchen
Is he bored or something?
I love the UK version so much better than the American one. I know one reason why, is because it seems too overdramatised
Can he not understand that less is more especially when food is concerned
He’s only hurting his own career at the end of the day if his ego can’t accept help and advice from Gordon and the other man who has food experience
I loved the spoon 🥄 in the sock 😆 glad it was a happy ending for all involved
Barry took something wonderful, got greedy and I think has ruined it. Money is wasted on some people. The way it was working before he should have just put an extension on the original with an outside area for the summer.
Giblet club sandwich 🤢 no thanks I will go somewhere else for a proper club sandwich 🥪
Far superior to the American version, was such a great show.
World class chef next to him and he’s hesitating for simplicity it’s like live aid but without the crowd
Kitchen "nightmares" UK, meanwhile on the US version is rotten food, filthy kitchens, insane owners and overdramatised production
Seems like this episode could’ve been an email. Sending in Gordon to rescue a Scottish fine dining restaurant after his own failed doesn’t seem quite right.
You're 38, son? You're lucky, I'm a musician. Naw, you're 59, son. Still that doesn't change anything…
I'd rather have a cheeseburger and chips or a pizza instead of this overpriced Nonsence
I wonder if lefebvre is related to ludo lefebvre
Considering Gordon got his stars behind French cooking he seemed salty about a true French crew in his hometown country
The problem is that the French have such a poor opinion of the British pallet that they will just say that it’s not them it’s us not knowing what good food is
I wish they did more of the UK kitchen nightmares. It feels more real compared to the American version and it’s so enjoyable to watch.
28:22 They bought those plates off eBay from Brian at The Fennec Arms…
