I'd assume the last sauce was probably a result of the Dutch bringing Sambal home from the Dutch East Indies (Indonesia) and just mixing it with mayo because everything's good with mayo (and they also probably couldn't handle the spice of raw Sambal too well)
You're right with joppie sauce (not sure about samurai sauce it's not very well known i believe)
but as someone from the Netherlands there's one sauce to rule them Mayonnaise (and i hate it) but everywhere you go Mayonnaise is the standard condiment. every snack shop that gives you fries with a standard heap of mayo. It's almost impossible to find a place without mayo here in the netherlands 😅
I love how locals call Joppie Sauce sometimes. Juppi , with the J as in Jump and Sose with both S getting a sound like the CH in Chicken. And the E at the end is silent. Allways great to hear it.
i wanted to try sambal olek or whatever but when i saw in shopping centre the level of hotness i thought what to mix : sour cream(local, but not sure ending)i was on that day on a budget and ye by know i know what to try to mix since i love sauces with risottos ar home 2 make💚
i'm gonna have to stop you right there. belgium did not invent french fries, france did. in 1842 Beignet seller in the street of paris decided to deep fry potatoes. A Bavarian musician, Frédéric Krieger learned how to cook french fries, then in 1844 he opened a shop in belgium named fritz selling "la pomme de terre frite à l'instar de Paris" ("Paris-style fried potatoes"). this is how belgium got access to french fries. I will give belgium credit for making the large french fries.
