Hi Friends,
The Alsace wine country is different than you see in the videos. I made this video hopefully to show you a truer view. Yes, it was more crowded even on a Tuesday. Kaysersberg definitely has charm, the religious history and the castle with the moat in front depcit the truth of a a monarchial past. How much freedom existed back then? The half-timber houses are sure historic– they even had pictures embedded in the timber of family members.
The guide did show us where Anthony Bourdain spent his last hours on earth. I did enjoy his shows on travel channel– couldn’t watch the ones on CNN. But I remember the raw part of his travel and looking for a meal resolved with a delicious bowl and looking for simple things locally like that place in Singapore, just a market, where I found the laksa and it was delicious. He recommended that market!
I didn’t like his company, hanging out with Obama comes to mind. This guy was super-connected– his dad was in entertainment and his Mom had friends in publishing– there you go. But he was still likable and provided honest content. The chefs he hung out with, like Eric Ripert, seemed likable. Eric Ripert found Anthony dead, they were doing another episode…
When I heard the story, June 8, 2018, did not believe it. This guy seemed to have the world in his hands, he had already started writing his own ticket.
So, what happened? OK, the girlfriend, Asia Argento… she told him the truth about Weinstein and all the other crap in Hollywood and in so-called elite circles about child trafficking. Of course, it’s true! But which players are? I don’t know but have read a lot and pay attention to anyone who gives an opinion who appears to be honest. I conclude if they are relevant or honest or just trying to get views or likes. Did Anthony the rebel decide to get involved and take a stand and did he pay the price for trying to expose the wrong people? Perhaps? We do know there is a group of people on this earth who feel they answer to no one and act like mobsters and feel they are entitled to do whatever they want and kill whomever they want. We know! George Carlin talked about this 40 years ago…
Riquewihr also had some cahrms, it was truly medieval. We walked thru the old town gate and even saw a street named for the liberation by the allied troops on December 5 1944, The Liberation of France, was the time in French history when France was liberated by the Allied powers from June 6 1944 – May 8 1945, believe December 5, 1944 was when this town was liberated.
Hope you guys enjoy this!
