So the croisant is the french version of what the cheeseburger is to US.
Invented elsewhere in one form, then altered by the adopting community. Thereby becoming it's own thing and justifiably associated with the modern location and no real association with it's origin.
My mum used to make kipfel. There are several versions, jam concentrate, hazelnut, walnut, ham and cheese, and cream cheese. I miss them.
You have spurred me on to make some for myself.
It is not flake pastry like the croissant which was introduced to France by Marie Antoinette's chef.
