Savoie is a wine region in eastern France, located on the border with Italy and Switzerland.
There are over 20 wine grape varieties permitted in the region including Chasselas, Jacquère, Altesse (also known as Roussette), Verdesse, Chardonnay and Roussanne grapes, The red grape varaties are Mondeuse, Gamay, Pinot Noir. Main four appellations of Savoie are Vin de Savoie AOP, Roussette de Savoie AOP, Seyssel and Cremant de Savoie.
Savoie AOP is divided into 17 subregions (crus) that can appear on the label including Abymes, Apremont, Arbin, Ayse, Chautagne, Chignin, Chignin-Bergeron, Crepy, Cruet, Jongiueux, Marignan, Marin, Montmelian, Ripaille, Saint-Jean-de-la-Porte, Saint-Jeoire-Prieuré and Pétillant et Mousseux de Savoie Ayze.

  1. Monduse is a great grape. Just had one with dinner on Friday at our favorite restaurant! Rousanne is a favorite too, will look for that one! Thanks!
