  1. Very cool video thank you very much for sharing! I have this book a surprise gift from my partner in life! A wonderful go too book when in need of inspiration for my hobbie that is cooking! Looking forward to your upcoming video cheers from WA!

  2. 5:50 funny you mention it because this is basically how I found out I had Spanish chervil growing in my garden 😀

  3. I have had Larousse Gastronomique for more than 50 years. About 50 years ago my wife and I quit our jobs and had an incredible visit to France traveling in a 1967 VW camper. I brought my Larousse which proved to be the BEST tour guide of France. We were on a shoestring budget and could not afford restaurants BUT, with Larousse we knew the specialities of everywhere we traveled. We visited the markets and purchased the appropriate ingredients to replicate meals from all over France. We are from Florida. For several years I have had the E-Version of Larousse on my iPhone downloaded from Amazon. The version of Larousse you show is VERY different than mine. I love your videos.

  4. Thank you for the introduction in to this book. I have been wondering for a long time if something like this existed. The best part is I found it used for $13.50
Lol what a way to start my day
    Take care now.

  5. Hello Stéphane, et merci pour ta chaine. A chaque fois je manque d'inspiration, je suis sûr de la trouver ici. Que penses-tu de l'ouvrage " la cuisine de référence"?

  6. It reminds me of The Conran Cookbook – which had loads of references of different ingredients with pictures, knife skills, food prep, recipes etc but no way as big as this tome 😂 Conran is about 432pgs. I was giving it for a Christmas present (Hardback edition) when i started in my younger Chefing days – still pull it down from time to time 😂

  7. The two objects that have been with me since the beginning of my adult life, which was some decades ago, are a Victorinox Swiss Army Knife and the Larousse Gastronomique. The first Gastronomique I bought, in hardcover, was the 1960 edition, translated into English in 1977. I remember I got it on sale and I felt like I'd found a treasure. That copy stayed with me for better, for worse, for richer, for poorer, until a few years ago when I lost it. I now have it back, plus several newer editions, in digital form. The most current version is a world away from the first one I bought, but it's also the most useful! Wouldn't want to be without it!

  8. Great video! I have two different editions of the Larousse Gastronomique and they are both well worn. They are not identical and both different from yours, so if you are really into food, it's well worth looking in thrift shops for different versions.
