Hi! We are An and Jeff Scott, two happily retired septuagenarians from the USA, who had a dream. That dream was to retire in France. So, we sold most of our “stuff”, packed and shipped the rest, and with our bossy little Yorkie, Bella, said “goodbye” to the USA. In 2024, we moved from the sunny coast of southwest Florida to the sunny coast of the south of France, to enjoy our “golden years” and embrace the “joie de vivre” available to us, here in beautiful Nice, France.

Moving from the USA to a foreign country was no small “project”. Through our videos, we’ve been taking you through the Long Stay Visa process, the packing, the purging, the moving, searching for an apartment, creating a great Dossier, learning the way things are done administratively in France, and sharing the steps, talking about what we’ve learned and the ups and the downs.

And now, we continue to share our life, our new life, here in Nice, getting settled, adjusting to the “French” way of doing things, dealing with the French “red tape”, reveling in the beauty of the world around us…and all the while, making every wonderful day in Nice, the best day ever…

  2. The new lamp is tres chic! I didn’t know one could make those kinds of changes in a rental! Handy hubby!

  3. You both have transformed a small empty space into a Work of Art !!! Inside and outside a feast to behold with color and life. I noticed the periwinkle lily of the valley small vase on the kitchen counter. It's the small touches that bring joy. Lilly of the valley, so rare nowadays. My favorite also. Wonder if you know a perfume with that scent ? Missed Bella today. Only heard her bark at the bird. Glad she was on and had her say. Look forward to all your videos.Like you retired and moved down from your area, to Florida. Who knows maybe next move Nice.

  4. Dear Ann and Jeff,

I love all the improvements to your apartment! The bed/desk is amazing! I love the new light! Your terrace garden is beautiful! You two are so blessed! Thank you for the videos they keep me going with my dream of moving to the South of France. I hope to move by 2029 with my daughter.
    Love and peace from NYC,
    Clarissa

  5. Maybe I missed it but where did you get the bed/desk comb? And if I may be rude, how much was it? Loved the beach. Wish we were (already) there!

  6. We finally made it here in Nice. I’ve hated all the lamps here. They are very small and utilitarian. I love the last dining room light the shape of a ring. I had that in the states. Where did you purchase it? Did they have larger sized too??

  7. Ooh ooh where did you get the Dryer??? I need one of those. Where does the exhaust hose go?

  8. Really enjoyed this video. Your apartment looks beautiful and you have certainly made clever use of the available space! Chez Freddy looks like a great place to eat. That salade de la mer looked absolutely delicious!

  9. ❤❤❤. Jeff has architect's eyes and knows how to use space. Thanks for sharing. An, it would be nice if he can use his skills and give counsellings for the others expats. Well, I know that you are not supposed to work in France with the current visa but it is possible to change the visa type.

  10. With the wholesale use of pesticides in the US is it any wonder that Americans are so sick! Combine that fact with the horrendous diet, ???

  11. Indeed, your hubby did excellent jobs around your apartment!!! You both truly know how to make the best of life❤❤

  12. There is a specific geranium called geranium citronelle which works well to deter mosquitos…when you rub the leaves it smells just like citronella.
