Journey to the Château, Ep. 311 – Patrick continues working on the furnishings for the Chateau de Colombe Grand Salon, this time on the 18th century settee (canapé) that is part of a furniture suite that needs to be repaired and reupholstered. He is deconstructing the antique settee that they acquired from the 16th century Château de Beauregard in the Loire Valley to check for damage and to prepare for upholstering. They also go with patron volunteer Tracy to an annual brocante (flea market) in Lacs, France where they meet up with friends Eve and Richard.

So interesting to watch! I learned a lot 😊 beautiful mahogany, so deserving of a restoration ❤
That cordial looked so refreshing.
The upholstery is very interesting. You will be pro after doing them all. That meadow is so beautiful. I can just picture the wildflowers. Lovely purchases again. ❤
Good morning Yesterday it was scorching hot in Charente-Maritime, as it is throughout the south-west of the country, and your refreshing elderflower drink (which I didn't know about) would have been most welcome. As the usual recommendation in France says : drink in moderation, of course.🥂🥳
The garden is at its best in May, and your roses are particularly beautiful. The yellow rose is absolutely fantastic. It captivates the eye with its warm, deep colour. It's probably one of the most beautiful yellows available for this flower.
The breadth of your talents is incredible, but then again, I'm surprised at you: reupholstering an armchair in a new fabric is no mean feat, but redoing the seat and changing its structure is probably the most technical task for a professional upholsterer. In any case, I can't wait to see the final result of all the armchairs covered in the new fabric. It's going to be gorgeous, I'm sure.👏
Your opening scenes of the various perennials , bulbs and shrubbery in bud and bloom really sets the tone guys! Well done and love the aerial chateau shots also !
You are a true master craftsman and it is such a delight to watch the video a second time, listening to your detailed but so understandable explanation of the process 😊
The settee is going to be beautiful when your done! ❤
I love the garden segments and seeing your pups.
The mirror with the B on it would be perfect for me.
The archeology of a settee, amazing 🤩 Cannot wait to see when it’s done!
Vaše zručnost je úžasná , moc vám držím palce.
best
…!!!
I love the channel guys!
Oh, the misery of the tacks again! Incredibly hard work, but I have to say it looks like you have the removal technique down now! Hats off to you, I appreciate the various jobs you have taken on this year and become more than qualified for! The settee will be stunning by the time you've finished it! Have a wonderful weekend!! ❤
I'm guessing the frame would not originally have been painted???
I am so glad you are doing this. Really interested in how you tie off the springs. I have to re-upholster our antique sofa this summer and I am dreading the springs.
I've read and 'liked' so many of the comments below; just had to add –
Stuart – great editing and love the music!
Hope you are looking for the cabinetmakers stamp. It could make the set more valuable.
Hi, have you got beehives? I may have missed that episode? Love the way you both repair so much furniture..
The new material is going to look beautiful on the settee. It looks like such an intricate job and daunting. Enjoy watching you take on these artistic jobs.
Patience. Perseverance and talent. You have all three and I know that settee will be fabulous again. The fabric you chose is perfect. Love your mirror find with the ribbon accents as it fits in with so many of your other finds. Can't toast you with elderberry, but I toast you with my heart.❤
