The 100 Point Scoring System (from www.robertparker.com):
96-100: An extraordinary wine of profound and complex character displaying all the attributes expected of a classic wine of its variety. Wines of this caliber are worth a special effort to find, purchase and consume.
90 – 95: An outstanding wine of exceptional complexity and character. In short, these are terrific wines.
80 – 89: A barely above average to very good wine displaying various degrees of finesse and flavor as well as character with no noticeable flaws.
70 – 79: An average wine with little distinction except that it is soundly made. In essence, a straightforward, innocuous wine.
60 – 69: A below-average wine containing noticeable deficiencies, such as excessive acidity and/or tannin, an absence of flavor or possibly dirty aromas or flavors.
50 – 59: A wine deemed to be unacceptable.

The year is almost over so it is time to look back on my wines of the year – the good, and the bad. 2024 was pretty full-on as I traveled through the wine regions of Europe, gave masterclasses at conventions, and produced many videos for you guys. I tasted my way through thousands of wines and had many highlights. But I do not want to focus on the highest-scoring wines – because many of them are not available. So let’s go through my wines of the year that was.

  1. С каждым разом Константин выглядит всё хуже. Явно, вина его несколько видоизменяют. Это опасно.

  2. My condolences and deepest sympathies. So sorry to hear of the loss of your father. I wish you strength in this difficult time. I'll raise a glass to him tonight.

  3. Love the thought at the end of the video…then was sorry to hear about the loss of your Dad. Sending positive thoughts from Rhode Island to you and your family.

  4. Was in Madrid for a conference. Found a little taberna that had a good wine list, ideal for a good lunch for 6 of us. We found a few Tondonia on the list and ordered a couple. The son of the proprietor spoke English and revealed his father was a close friend of the winery and had special bottlings going back to 1974. Each of his vintages had a special cartouche mentioning the owner of the taberna. We left at 11pm. What wonderful wines.

  5. Thank you for your hard work and I‘m sorry for your loss…
Do you think the 2019 Suane is as good as the 2017 as the 2017 isn‘t to find anymore?

  6. Helpful video. I just ordered a case of wine directly from Osmote thanks to your review (the cab franc and others that looked good!).

  7. Sincere condolences, Konstantin. You brighten so many of our lives, I hope the support from the community here – friends around the world – helps at least a little during this hard time.

  8. Going everywhere by plane is quick and convenient, but how do you manage to do it knowing what we know on climate change?

  9. I finally acquired 2 bottles of the Vina Tondonia Gran Reserva Blanco! I looked everywhere. I actually concluded that this was an impossible mission but now that I have them how would you suggest I proceed? Should I drink 1 now and cellar the other for future enjoyment? And, what do you recommend I pair this with? Thanks, looking forward to this very much.

  10. My sincerest condolences, Konstantin (please allow me to say, my friend). I too lost my father figure (uncle, whom I grew up with) during these days two years ago, I know a bit how that feels during the end of the year. I am sure he would love to see your future endeavors — to a glorious future! 🍷🍷

  11. Sorry for your loss. If you make it to the states you have to visit Virginia for more great east coast wine!

  12. A Spanish gal dropped by my shop and when she saw that Rioja on the shelf she snatched it up. "That's my wine" she said.

  13. Thanks for letting us know these unknown gems. My discovery from 2024 was returning to the German Mosel and trying mainly the red wines from Walter J Oster, he has an amazing fruity Cabernet Dorsa (first time I tried this grape) and his cuvee 1891 are really fantastic ! Other discovery was the Blaufränkisch from Sylvia Heinrich in burgenland Austria, the alte reben is such a top wine. Cheers !

  14. Welcome to China, I am living more than a decade in China. I had a chance to stay one night at one of the first private owned wine estates : Grace Vineyards, they have very good price / quality wines such as their deep blue and the chairman reserve. Other one I tried recently is the Rkatsiteli from Puchang, nice white wine. Enjoy your trip to China ! Let me know if you need a tasting buddy 😂

  15. Listen dude I’ve been to jail
And prison, I’ve had a crazy life and made some
Terrible mistakes, but the last 4 years have been much much better, and I say that to let you know I have NO IDEA about wine, but seeing these videos really
Peak my interest, this stuff seems so cool. Bravo

  16. You should have released that video after January 1st. Surprisingly and also unexpectedly my fav juice of 2024 has been a PN 2014 from Lucy M that I tasted and drunk between 10:30pm and 11:30pm on December 31st 2024. One of my top 10 wines (discoveries) from 2023 was that Syrah by Stefano Amerighi, drunk on Xmas day in Rome. Haha.
Edit: I just watched the video till the end. My thoughts are with you – and he is with you and will keep on being with you, always. Earth life is short indeed but when we meet again on the other side it's forever. Keep on drinking wines made with love. His soul night shine through.

  17. Some the red "Great Wall:" wines are worth a drink. They have adapted a star system denoting the quality of their cuvee's. Three star, forgettable. Five star overpriced. Four star awesome. Let us know how you get on (Nord VPN not a winner in China however).

  18. So sorry to hear of the passing of your father 😢
My own father was 87YO on New Year’s Eve, so it’s pretty close to home.
As usual, this was a fantastic video, leaving a lot to think about.
    Take care 😳

  19. Hey Konstantin, if you end up going to the finger lakes please visit Hermann J. Wiemer (you probably have tried these) and right up the street from them is Shaw (you certainly have not, some of the best reds from the finger lakes)!

  20. I love your videos, thanking so much for sharing and Condolences to you for your loss. I am from the Finger Lakes region and am happy to see your interest. There are some great wines and winemakers in the region. If you ever get the chance, grab a bottle of Pinot Noir or Riesling from Johannes at Kemmeter Wines on Seneca Lake.

  21. There are a lot more exciting Spanish producers that Tondonia and Vega Sicilia, but I agree on Alonso & Pedrajo. I just tried the 2019 in Spain two weeks ago and it's amazing

  22. Sorry for your Lost, I know the pain you feel I lost my father one years ago me too. I can send you good life. I thank you for your Channel, Because when I was sad your video change my mind little bit now I Became little bit better now, thanks to you

  24. sorry about your dad, but you will be a stronger man now. I know and like Chateau Musar , although no t had one for 20/30 years. It used to be pretty cheap back then to boot.
