  1. I appreciate your position on Veuve Clicquot and totally agree. I know I would prefer the small personal tour. Thank you for your information

  2. When we were in Rheims we bought splits of many champagne. As we and our friends finished a bottle it was trashed and we would open another bottle Wonderful memories

  3. Gotta admit I do love the bubbly — and the Veuve review was an eye-opener! It has long been my champagne of choice, though I may now revise that call. On all of my Paris visits over the years, I've not been able to carve out the time to travel to Reims — would still very much like to do that, so thank you for this lovely video and sharing your experience. Salut!

  4. Your french and your accent are SO good! You should be proud of that. Most folks don't bother to learn the language when they live abroad. Love your content too. Super fun!

  5. Corporate environmentalism is just PR, they don't care, wake up and stop being naive. If they lost sales by not boxing up their bottles, you better believe they would box up their champagne and tell you a different story about how pro environment they are.

  6. i love it you are an amazing writer you are honest thank you very much you give me an important point of view i am travel agent and i can share that with my client merci

  7. It's perfectly OK if sometimes you become more like a podcast:-) It is a real service to everyone to do the sort of reviews you did. I was particularly interested in your report on Veuve Cliquot in which you talked about the guide continually pointing out photo ops for Instagram. I would not want to keep having opportunities to polish the brand online pointed out to me. I would not take a tour I paid for in order to do a marketing & advertising job for the brand. Having good vs bad restaurant options pointed out is also a real service.

  8. Very informative and entertaining. Didn't have occasion to visit that part of France during time spent in Paris but mostly in Strasbourg (back when dinosaurs still roamed the earth LOL). Such a lovely region despite lacking the blooms and greenery. The footage of the majestic cathedral! Look forward to future videos as you continue your exploration.

Love Jean's smile, sense of humor. 😊

  9. Posting Awesome Content!

I was wondering do you need a Video Editor who specifically worked with Vlogging YouTube channels?

Is this something you are considering?

I will be happy to come on a call/meeting to discuss everything.

LET ME KNOW IF YOU WANT TO SEE MY SAMPLES!

  10. I found the comments fascinating and having just watched the film Widow Cliquot it was extremely timely. I also did a deep dive. According to Wikipedia "In 2001, Cecile Bonnefond became the first female president of Veuve Clicquot since the widow herself was running the company." Not sure if this is still the situation, but it sounds as though the guide was at least ill informed about this. Your comment about the tours that were run by the owners of the smaller vineyards, would negate this type of error.

  11. Loved your video! We were in the Champagne region in March (spent 3 nights in Epernay). What a beautiful region to visit ~ great restaurants, champagne and scenery! The cathedral in Reims was spectacular!

  12. I was in Reims in March on our last Paris trip. It’s SO easy to get to and that can’t be overstated.

What I want to really comment on is your statement on Google reviews. They are practically useless in France. Our first few trips to Paris we leaned on Google and we would’ve been better served just tossing a coin and picking based on random chance. So many horrible 4.6-4.8 rated places! Equally useless is The Fork. We’ve found a combo of Reddit, Michelin recommended and Le Fooding tends to land the best spots.

  13. You must do your research. Mireille Guilliano was the long time spokes person and CEO of Veuve Clicquot for 22 years and 3 months. She was instrumental in building the brands U.S. market share from 1% to 25%. Also boxes are from a renewable resource and dissolves back into soil.

  14. Lovely video Arielle! And what you are saying about the two different brands, although both are part of LVMH, that is the perfect example of marketing: one has a clear focus on sustainability and the other on being instagrammable and hyped. It's LVMH's way of diversifying their different brands and focus them specifically on different audiences.
I always thought by the way that Veuve Cliquot was not founded by the veuve but she continued it / started running the company when her husband passed away?

  15. I really enjoy your videos Arielle, but sometimes it's a bit tiring listening to Jean struggling to speak English. I feel like he could have shared so much more if you allowed him to speak French. Just throw in some subtitles. It will also be great for those of us learning French 😉

  16. The cathedral!!! 😍 I don't drink champagne but I'm awestruck by the spaces they were able to create in the middle ages.

  17. very interesting about VC and I feel the same about the story and reality, given how much the Widow C put into the survival of her fields and brand. I would have had the same reaction. go you for being Authentic and not buying into the cool aid!

  18. Great travel vlog! I've lived mostly in Northern California in what is called Wine Country. Spring through Fall is the best. Don't forget to go back when the vines are changing color. As for the flower bloom, it's very short so hard to time. Side note: Love when you incorporate French language into you videos and I really appreciate that you don't use you hands while speaking. I find the hand waving while speaking in videos to be so distracting, I'll often skip those videos. 💚

  19. Good thing to remember, is the time of year. I’m in California, so I’ve seen the dormant vines. Fine, if it’s more of a wine trip. Just to let you know, Champagne doesn’t have much residual sugar, especially if it’s brut. I thought the dosage was for the yeast, but I guess it’s different levels of sweetness. In the US, we seem to get more brut.

  20. I was sad to hear about your experiences. We have visited both Ruinart and Veuve Cliquot {in addition to Mumm, Taittinger (currently run by a woman), Charles de Cazanove, and a few smaller ones,} however, it was before they were purchased by LVMH. Apparently, the quality of the tours has greatly decreased. Our experience was quite different! At Veuve we DID get education and a beautiful tasting and at Ruinart they stressed not only sustainability but that that Ruinart et Fils was the oldest Champagne house. We tasted their reserve and their Grand Dame (?) plus one other. I can also highly recommend Epernay, but agree that the best tours are the ones run by the owner…if you ever get to Epernay – we loved Jaquinot et fils! We have had the tour twice, once by the owner and once by an employee – WORLD of difference! But the champagne is always good!

  21. Thank you for sharing. I’ve had VC a number of times for celebrations at a company I worked for in Montreal and have never liked it. Same opinion from a number of my ex-colleagues, to the point we asked the person that would go out and buy it for the prestige to buy something else. Glad to see their branding is on point with their taste.

  22. In the states, the wineries are often called domaines, like Domaine Lumineux, which I know is a French word, but maybe it's a good English equivalent to "grand maison"?
