Hello Agnes how are you doing today?
Hi Agnes, when are you going to pop ‘Champagne Jacquesson, Cuvee 746 Extra Brut, Grand Vin’?
Hello from Winnipeg ❤ I agree I enjoy both styles also. You're always so fun and bubbly like champagne 🍾🥂. Agnese 🎉💋😊
Maybe unfashionable opinion but some grower champagnes with crazy acidity is just torture
Why don't you try to guess which is grower or not? Noticed in your videos, you tend not to guess — any reason?
Grower champagnes for me have been hit or miss. Some have been excellent, others real disappointments. I also enjoy wines from champagne cooperatives, which can offer considerable value. For example, Art Deco from Collet is made entirely from grapes from Grand Cru and Premier Cru vineyards and is priced well below cuvees from Les Grande Marques.
I usually prefer Bollinger and Roederer to grower champagne. The style is more consistent and I know what I will get at the end. With that said, I have a beautiful bottle of Selosse Substance waiting in my cellar… that might change my mind about grower champagne 😂 if you ever come to Montréal, send me a message and we'll open it together.
Thank you Agnes! Always excited when you have Campagne uploads! I love the Leherte🎉 For me there really isn’t a definitive good/bad between RM vs NM, it’s about that particular mood I’m in and what my palate craves for. But when it comes to price, I do believe grower champagne often delivers more than Grand Marque.
I don’t like champagne, the gas and elevated acidity gives me indigestion and a horrible hangover in excess. Give me a glass of Montrachet any day
Engagement comment. Video liked, link copied.
Another great video. I slightly prefer the grower champagne, but love them all. How about a video on vintage vs nonvintage, or about the different premiere villages. We just had a 2014 Paul Bara and it was amazing
Love this topic specifically and this format of having 2-on-2 blind tasting comparison!!👏👏
A question, you have American instead British accent, did you lived in the States?
I think Agnes loves her Champagne. I am certain of this. Right???
Hi Agnese, hi viewers,
I am not convinced of the price/quality ratio of Champagne. You can get great sparkling wines from Spain or Germany for 20-30€. Champagne is just overpriced if you ask me.
I think champagne lends itself to the promise of something very specific and predictable because of it's association with a specific mood and occation much more so than other wine. Kind of like going to a restaurant to have a dish they're famous for. It's the revisiting of a known pleasure precisely because it's predefined. This too has its place in the world of wine because it has a place in the human experience.
I drink both but I've become very excited recently by growers such as Agrapart and Julien Prelat.
One of the best ways to taste incredible growers champagnes is Le19 in epernay. Maude who runs it is an incredible lead there. And trying several champagnes made as cuvees with less usual grapes or even varietal pure like pinot blanc or pinot meunier is eye opening. I trrid probably fifteen different ones at le 19 and enjoy them more than grand marques without taking away from their quality. Egzegere
