Hey Paula! Just a quick clarification, clarified butter isn’t water free, it’s actually butter with the milk solids removed. That’s what makes it great for frying…it won’t burn as easily because those solids are what scorch. Love your cooking, just wanted to share a little kitchen science from an engineer!

I think since the pound cake has enough sugar and maple syrup and candied bacon? So I’d leave that 2 tbsps out but add vanilla. Pound cake french toast is a great idea! Cooked beautifully golden. Love.
