Brit mum Karen Carter died from severe blood loss in south west France after being stabbed multiple times “as she tried to defend herself from a frenzied attack”, an autopsy has revealed.
Horrific details of the 65-year-old’s last moments were made public as a 69-year-old former ‘female friend’ on Friday remained in custody over the apparent murder.
She has not been identified but was part of Ms Carter’s ‘social circle’ and had been out wine tasting with her, according to investigators.
Ms Carter, a mother of four, “collapsed and died of her injuries” next to to her car in Trémolat, in the Dordogne region, on Tuesday evening.
She was outside her home in the village, which has a population of around 600, following the night out with friends, including an alleged lover.

My deepest sympathies and condolences! This life is full of distractions, but the most important truth is that we all have a need for salvation. No matter who we are, we’ve all fallen short of God’s perfect standard (Romans 3:23). Sin separates us from a holy God, and because of sin, we deserve eternal punishment (Romans 6:23).
But there's good news: Jesus Christ, God's Son, came to this earth, lived a perfect life, and died on the cross to pay the penalty for our sins. He rose from the dead on the third day, conquering sin and death once and for all (1 Corinthians 15:3-4).
The only way to be saved is through trusting in Jesus alone for forgiveness and eternal life. It’s not by being good enough or doing enough good things—it’s through faith in Him and what He has done for us (John 14:6). Jesus says, “Come to Me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest” (Matthew 11:28).
If you want to be saved, all you need to do is:
Admit that you are a sinner.
Believe in Jesus Christ as your Saviour and place your faith in Him.

There is obviously more to this story, especially if it was committed by a woman of her own age, and an apparent close friend. I often think, it's best not knowing, as it could be something personal to the family.

It has been recently announced that the 69 year old woman who was taken in for questioning has now been released.
