Name of the store: La Grande Epicerie aka the French Erewhon. It’s inside Le Bon Marché department store, owned by LVMH. This video is NOT sponsored by them, I’ve been coming here for years and paid for everything you see here with my own money, including the really great food tour! I actually used to work there as a student so I have a lot of insider stories lol
Video mood: investigation, good vibes, delicious food, crazy products & accessible luxury

The Marketing Of Consumerisme
France version of Erewhon
Rich and international, they only shop there once a year, the rest of the time housekeeper goes to Monoprix, or whatever…. Or dorsn't go just does an online order.
middle class people love to get ripped off by “ luxury “ products and brands.
Eat the rich
Understand that the history of department stores got rid of the experience of haggling and thereby screwed consumers with higher prices. However the experience of haggling and buying from a local grocer cannot be beat. Not only do you get a good price but you also make connections and feel part of a bustling community
Why is YouTube recommending American accents. Je suis anglaise.
Thank you, even though I lived in Paris, now I know more about this gem 😊
€332 for 4.5 liters of olive oil is expensive, but it is not by any means outrageous. If it truly is high end quality, I'd say it's worth it, though it will take some time to consume it and it may degrade over time and not taste so nice when reaching the end of the bottle.

Bonjour Lucile
I will visit Paris soon and would like to know if you know on what days and times of day they do tastings there? I’d like to visit and taste something maybe as well.
Merci!
I actually ended up there a few weeks ago while exploring the neighborhood. I just needed a restroom and didn't realize what it was. Honestly, it was just okay for me – not particularly magnificent. I guess some people enjoy paying a premium for ordinary food to feel exclusive, though.
You would have to be a moron to go shopping at this pretentious store!
I shop at a store called 'La petite épercie' but it's a cute overpriced craft store ahhaha
This stuff is so dated….It’s 2025 and alcohol is a toxin for health and wellness. Real luxury is a nutritionist created bespoke menu (farm to table) befitting the person’s DNA make up and work out and wellness regiment for optimal fitness and longevity. Nowadays I hear Louis Vuitton vested “product and service”…I think total BS. There are so many better offerings. I own properties and am my own boss and let me tell you well to do people who are not laundering money do not buy or drink $27K bottle wines, you get fatty liver and droopy skin…..
I'm glad a place like this exists but I still mourn Fauchon and Hédiard, the traditional shops founded in the 19th century. Why did they both have to close their famous shops next to the Madeleine church if their concept is still successful, as proven by the striving Grande Épicerie??
Our own Erewhon 😂 Love la Grande Epicerie and Beurre Bordier is the best!
Bought some hazelnut chocolates, gourmet butter in vaccum seak packaging to take overseas from this place on my last visit. Fancy store! I wish if this video had come then, I would have def bought the products that you suggested.
1150 for Montrachet ain't bad!
