French Baguette Bread Recipe

Ingredients:
□ 2 cups warm water
□ 1 1/2 t. instant yeast(or active dry yeast)
□ 1 1/2 t. salt
□ 4 – 4 1/2 cups all purpose flour
□ 1 egg

□ In a bowl add 2 cups slightly warm water
(never add hot water!)
1 1/2 t. dry yeast(or instant yeast)
Stir well till yeast mixture gets frothy,
cover, wait 5 – 10 min for the yeast to
activate…

□ Then in a mixing bowl add:
4 – 4 1/2 cups bread flour(or all purpose)
1 1/2 t. salt
Add yeast mixture into mixing bowl, mix
well and form dough into a ball…

□ Transfer dough ball to an oiled bowl,
cover & let sit in a warm place(under
the oven light) for 1 – 2 hours or until it
doubles in size…

□ Put dough on a lightly flowered surface
and divide dough in half.
Roll each half into a large
rectangle(12″x18″)
Then roll dough into long rolls about
15″ each.
Place on a baking sheet or bread pan.
Cover & let rise for 30 min.

□ Preheat oven @ 375°F.
Beat an egg into small bowl.
Score dough(3 or 4 slits).
Brush each loaf with egg(makes a shiny crust).

□ Bake @ 375°F for 35 – 40 min.

*Let bread cool completely before eating it!
