About a year ago, one weekday, we took the train to Menton, France and frankly, didn’t understand why everyone said it was such a lovely town. The day we went there it was “dead”. Almost nothing open and no people. Clearly, off season, Menton, is a very quiet little town on the Mediterranean Sea and the Cote d’Azur. It was far too quiet for us, off season. That’s why we selected to move to Nice. Recently, we decided to go to their annual Fête du Citron and see if Menton, with people and celebration, was any different. We were pleasantly surprised! And you may be too. Come with us for a full day of exploring Menton, the Fête du Citron, the streets, the beach, the casino and more. It was truly a lovely little town. We still prefer Nice, because of the energy and year round “life”, but you should add Menton to your list when in this part of the world.

Hi! We are An and Jeff Scott, two happily retired septuagenarians from the USA, who had a dream. That dream was to retire in France. So, we sold most of our “stuff”, packed and shipped the rest, and with our bossy little Yorkie, Bella, said “goodbye” to the USA. In 2024, we moved from the sunny coast of southwest Florida to the sunny coast of the south of France, to enjoy our “golden years” and embrace the “joie de vivre” available to us, here in beautiful Nice, France.

Moving from the USA to a foreign country was no small “project”. Through our videos, we’ve been taking you through the Long Stay Visa process, the packing, the purging, the moving, searching for an apartment, creating a great Dossier, learning the way things are done administratively in France, and sharing the steps, talking about what we’ve learned and the ups and the downs.

And now, we continue to share our life, our new life, here in Nice, getting settled, adjusting to the “French” way of doing things, dealing with the French “red tape”, reveling in the beauty of the world around us…and all the while, making every wonderful day in Nice, the best day ever…

  1. What a gorgeous citrus display!…. Those creatures made out of the lemons and the oranges were just out of this world. Thank you for sharing. We are Looking forward to maybe being able to go see it next year.

  2. Thanks for sharing the joy of visiting Menton, time for Bella Limoncella, to cheer up that lemon tree. Lemon zest, and a squeeze will go well in pasta (spaghetti) recipe.

  3. Thank you Ann and Jeff, for the wonderful tour of Menton. We went to Nuremberg for a Christmas market and encountered a sidewalk artist too. We filmed, start to finish, a beautiful picture-we then purchased.

  4. I think the town is pronounced as Mon-ton by the French. I also watch French Vibes which is set near this town.

  5. Nothing to do with Menton, but wondering if you have noticed a negative vibe toward Americans recently? Someone mentioned that the American Flags were removed from the Promenade Des Anglais 😬
