I wonder if this is also just a misunderstanding about what an entrée is. In French, an entrée is an appetizer. In american english though an entree refers to the main course
Idk i find french restaurant food a very good portion size. You can choose to have more courses if youre hungry I love bistrot food though ahah, i prefer one course and to be done with it
In fariness, you'll drink about 2-300kcal of wine with a meal, and a lot of french cuisine ends up being 50% butter by weight, couple that with fresh bread and 2 courses, you'll easily have done ≥1200kcal in a single meal.
I think we just have an awful relationship with food thanks in no small part to companies benefitting from a soaring obesity rate.
The biggest difference is France doesn't have a take-home culture. In the US it's almost expected that you won't finish your meal and will take the leftovers home to have later

Fair. Quality over quantity.
The obesity rate in France is half of the US, too.
I think we are used to eating too much in America.
Our portion sizes are too big in restaurants and in my case at home too. I started eating only half of what I was given and lost about 20 pounds.
Are you paying the waitstaff through tips or the price of the food?
In America we just take the extra home and eat it tomorrow
