  1. In Europe, packaged products have less additives, preservatives & artificial dyes. Particularly the types that are found in USA but banned in Europe.

  2. Seems like you just didn’t eat that much to me. Those sizes would leave me a bit hungry with that little protein so I always try to optimise the satiety of my meals. I am thin, eat plant-based and live in England btw. You just seem to have a smallish appetite which is fine but this approach won’t work for everyone.

  3. The main differences seem to be: 3 meals a day, no snacks, no soft drinks with lots of sugar, little bread, lots of fruit and vegetables, less red meat, some cheese at the end of your lunch or dinner, sweets as a dessert not in between meals.

  4. I'm French and here's what I think : We are less surrounded by ultra processed ultra delectable foods compared to the US, those foods are known to mess with your appetite, leading you to be hungrier, addicted, and eating more calories than you need.

Especially at a young age, we learn good habits and are fed good whole food at school, we eat meals in courses, they teach us table manners, to finish our plates etc… Going to the "cantine" was not a break, it was like a lesson. From what I see in the US, it's very different, like being served ultra processed food by the school, no courses, no structure, or even being given Lunchables by your parents.

Also snacking in between meals is not as common, and it's definitely vilified here, we recognize that snacking is unhealthy, I think most people only eat for breakfast, lunch, goûter, and dinner (and again that is taught from a young age by your parents, at school, etc. it's just the culture here). We also drink way less soda or "fruit" juice, we rarely drink calories in general.

Then there's the fact that our infrastructure is more walk able and on average we spend more calories than Americans living in car dependent suburbs (although we also have those too).

Oh and also, we barely eat breakfast, most people don't have time for that in the morning, usually it's something small and quick, or literally nothing until lunch, so a kind of country wide intermittent fasting I guess.

  5. I think you are saying it is quality over quantity. I also suspect better food regulation and less gmo food etc plays a role. If you look at videos of public spaces in America in the 80's people were not fat.

  6. If I ate like Lucile in this video, I would have gained weight. But given I don’t move a lot. Doing a 10.000 steps a day keeps me thin 😊

  7. Love seeing the perspective. So many factors in this, Europeans seem to walk more, eat slower, and with other people more often than Americans (American here). Eating slower allows the body time to tell the mind you are full. Americans are constantly busy, eating alone between the next thing, especially as people get older and have to get kids to the next practice, game, etc. making it easy to over eat.

Further, Americans are far more likely to eat food from large companies and local restaurants often serve food which is not produced with local ingredients. So less, but healthier food which is eaten without the American rush and more built in activity. I'd be curious of not just obesity, but heart disease, fatty liver, cholesterol, etc. I applaud the French, Italians, and likely other places with pushes to eat local and retain traditional methods

  8. Europe has so many restrictions on what can be added to food. ThenUS let's over 200 additives to food. They also don't have growth hormones in their food. US also don't sit down and eat diner slowly and enjoy it. We wolf it down in les then 15 minutes. US also eats too much fast food and sodas and very sugary drinks. A lot of drinks in Europe use sugar additives.

  9. Im so proud of myself that i found your channel😁, i learnt so many things from you, and my mindset change about food, im just so happy watching amazing videos, thank you sooo much for being❤❤❤

  10. I went to Paris last month (using many of your recommendations too!) and I was so worried that I was going to gain weight with the way I ate. I LOST weight there. I was shocked.

  11. Lucile has just proven that staying thin is not the result of restricting carbs, intermittent fasting, or any of the other things being touted on the internet now. It is simply eating fresh, non-processed food, stopping when you feel full, and moving your body (walking). This video is timely as I have just started to lose weight to get my blood pressure down.

  12. i love this! i have benefited from this way of eating as an american. people ask me how I stay thin as a baker and i tell them I have a good relationship with food and eat what makes me feel good!😋☕️🍫🍳 no dieting here☺️

  13. Well, it’s true. Everyone is different because if I ate that way, I would always feel hungry and I would be gaining weight. I need more meat and protein in my diet.

  14. I want to visit France because they helped us in the United States Revolution and gifted us the Statue of Liberty.
