Nicknamed ‘The Mistress’s Mansion’ for its ties to Madame de Pompadour, mistress of Louis XV of France, who resided here after her time at Versailles. Located just outside of Paris, this historic French country home is a pleasure palace filled with elegant decor and timeless design inspiration.

A boudoir is a space outside a bedchamber – like a sitting room. That was not her boudoir, that was her chambre, or bedroom. And, there were no bathrooms in the 18th century. That one was added in the 20th century. They did do a good job, retaining the lovely paneling, and such. In Pompadour's time, a bath was wherever the tub was set up and filled. There wasn't a special room, and other needs were take care of with chamber pots, bourdelues, or a chaise percée. Again, there was no particular room set aside for these amenities, so no "salle de bain" as we know it.
