Bonjour!

The recipe I used for this brioche is by Hervé Cuisine @hervecuisine https://youtu.be/GICQ8YWbmss?si=-NcZd_2SpDWRA_0R
Ingredients:
500g flour
80g butter
80g sugar
200ml milk
pinch of salt
1 bag of instant yeast (7g)
3 eggs
all at room temperature
Mix the sugar, milk, 2 eggs, sugar and salt in the bowl of your KitchenAid but use a hand mixer first to just mix these wet ingredients. Then add the flour and mix it shortly using your KitchenAid this time just a few seconds. Then add the yeast and mix for 6 to 7 minutes at low speed. Increase the speed and mix for another 5 minutes. Then add the butter in cubes and mix at low speed for 8 minutes. Cover with plastic wrap or a wet tea towel and set aside to rise for 90 minutes. After this rising time, press the air out of the dough using your fingers. Transfer the dough to a floured surface and cut into 8 pieces. Form 8 little balls and put them in a greased baking mold / tin. Set to rise for 45 minutes. Pre-heat your oven to 180 Celsius. Mix the third egg with a pinch of salt and brush this on top of the brioche. Bake in the oven for 30 minutes.

Let me know if you’re going to try this too!

  1. When I was a little girl, my Mom made me buttered toasted bread with her homemade bread, just like your Grandma made for you. It was called Kay's French Toast. You brought back a wonderful memory today. Thank you so much.

  2. we call it French toast , we dip the bread in egg, milk and vanilla , maybe cinnamon and toast on stove. We usually use molasses or maple syrup on top or fruit

  3. I find it funny, as others have already commented, we (here in the US) call bread dipped in egg & milk & then fried, 'French Toast.' I've heard (on other vlogs) that some Brits refer to it as "eggy bread." When I make it, I often top it off with ricotta cheese mixed with a little vanilla & sugar — the same type of mix you find in cannoli. Then, I jokingly refer to it as my French/Italian Fusion Bread. 😉
Changing subjects … I wondered if you'd consider doing a little bit of a French lesson in some of your episodes. For instance, if you would say a few sentences in French, and then the same in English — maybe even caption the French with the written words — that would be great! My high school French from many years ago was focused mainly on the printed words. I find I can pick up a bit when reading. But in conversational dialogue, I get completely lost. If you would do that I, for one, would really appreciate it!
    Thanks!

  4. Hi Marloes ,,,,I make mine with a little real maple syrup and cinnamon mixed into the egg mixture , then served with more maple syrup whipped cream and berries . We here in Canada call it french bread ….thanks for sharing this lovely video …….Cherryl from Canada

  5. we call it french toast in the USA….looks delicious!….I bet the Brioche would make an amazing Strata!

  6. That Brioche looks amazing and with the help of a KitchenAid, not too difficult! In the US, we call what you made at the end French Toast 😊. I usually add a bit of vanilla and cinnamon to the egg & milk mixture before soaking the bread. It is typically served with maple syrup, but I also like it with blueberries or sliced banana. Will be trying this recipe! Merci!

  7. I see you keep the egg shells. What do you do with them? Do you bake them in the oven to dry out then grind them up for use in the garden? The ground shells are pure calcium, which is very good for all plants, but tomatoes in particular. Citrus also loves the calcium.

  8. Can't wait to try this! Would you mind sharing the color of the "zellie" tiles that you talked about in your kitchen tour? Blanc perhaps? Thanks so much!

  9. It looks delicious. I thought you were going to make French toast. When I’ve made brioche and used it for breakfast I add berries and maple syrup. This is American French toast. 😀

  10. I like your cooking videos.
I would like to find the video you made making bread with spelt flour, but I can't remember when it was?

  11. and he cooks too…OK Olav 8:21 you do speak English, but you snuck it in on another channel. More to come on Aan de Franse slag? I might know the answer🤔

  12. Another American chiming in to say we call it French Toast. Go figure! It's nice to make it as you do, but as a kid I always made French toast or pancakes Sunday mornings for my younger brothers, and we all ate it swimming in maple syrup!

  13. This was so fun to watch. Such a warm and comforting scent in the air when bread is baking. My mother would do the same dipping the brioche in egg and milk toasting it in butter in a pan then she would butter it and sprinkle a mixture of cinnamon and sugar. So delicious. Her mother was Irish her father was from Canada and she was named Annabelle . Her first cookbook after she married my father was Escoffier . She must have embraced French cooking as I reflect back to what she would prepare. So I imagine I have been influenced by her and why I’m a bit of a Francophile as they say. She passed 2 years ago ( miss her so) and I have her treasured Escoffier cookbook. Also I have her beautiful little molds for making Cannelés , there is a recipe in her book to make them. Have you ever made it and have you seen the molds in any of your brocante visits ?Thank you.

  14. Excellente chaine Hervé Cuisine…Julie Andrieu partage aussi des recettes sur sa chaine personnelle 🙂

  15. My family would dip bread in egg and fry it in olive oil. One could make it savory or spicy for breakfast. Thank you for an inspiring video!

  16. Your brioche looks so delicious. Thank you for sharing the recipe. We would sprinkle with cinnamon and add maple syrup or berries and call it French toast! ❤

  17. Living in America I always use Brioche for as we call French toast very similar to what you did with fruit thank you for sharing your recipe

  18. In the US, it’s called ‘French Toast’ « Pain perdu » 🍞.

Adoro i tuoi video: sono molto rilassanti dopo una lunga settimana di lavoro.

    Merci beaucoup!

  19. That was fun and inspiring Marloes. Have you ever considered preparing all of the recipes in your cook book on your channel? I love to watch you cook and see how you style a plate/tray. Always exquisite! I have your cookbook and love it – but I would love to see you cook the recipes in it as well – if you’d be interested – I would be as well!

  20. Fresh bread is just so good. I loved how you smelled it a few times! When I make yeast dough my daughter come by and gives it a whiff while it's mixing.

  21. Thank you for sharing your home, thought process and recipe making. You have a beautiful home and well made video. Inspiring 🤗☀️🌻💕
