At the Chateau, focuses on the restoration and celebration of Château Avensac, a listed French castle, designed in the late 18th century, and built in the beginning of the 19th century, on the ruins of the original 14th century Château.

In 2015 we began an adventure to own a French Chateau. It has been a long journey, and in September of 2021 we became the guardians of this incredible property that we now call home. I keep an ongoing record of the long road to Château ownership, as well as our continued restoration work on our website. 1. Love the color of the kitchen maybe not to fan of the library but is finished the kitchen will be incredible when finished

  2. Guys , so wonderful to see your progress. Your colour choices are beautiful! I’m also so pleased for you that the French media is recognising your hard work and the beauty you are creating!

  3. Great to see the progress, the kitchen already looks amazing! The renovation is so respectful to the building's identity and done with such great taste! Congratulations for all the attention you're getting from the media, it is well deserved. You're doing a great job preserving part of France's heritage. My late father used to work for La Depeche, he was a journalist and spent the last few years of his career in Fleurance, not far from Avensac.

  4. Scared me at first when you said the library color. Love the burgendy/red, hated the green. So glad when you said to ignore it. Love the tile in the kitchen

  5. Love seeing the progress! Your kitchen colors are very similar to mine. Can’t wait to see all your books back on the shelves in the library – they’ll look great with the red! Kudos on the media coverage! Hopefully it will bring you more viewers!

  6. I adore that color in the library! It's so lucious! And I love the name of it! I would love to one day see it in person! Fingers crossed! Also, I hope physical therapy is helping loads for you, Mark! It's a long road but when you look back you can see the progress you've made. Hugs to you both!

  7. For the windows issue, just take the crown molding and create cornices or pelmets out from the windows, which makes the whole obscured.

  8. Bravo Messieurs! What a great episode, and congratulations on all the press coverage! I love the Gers region, more familiar with Lectoure and Condom, and have a small holiday house there. I hope to visit Avensac one day!

  9. Love the calm kitchen colour. I might be the only one but I also love the library doors. I like the whacky contrast. Would be fun with a couple of chairs or cushions in that colour. Can’t wait to see the stove set up as well👌⭐

  10. Love Earthborn and Little Greene paint. We also used the Earthborn silicone exterior paint for the rendered walls of our granary – really good as it chemicals binds to the lime render and reels dirt, 6 years on and it is still pristine. ❤ The library will be stunning

  11. Wow, just so impressed with the differences since I was there. I absolutely love that tile work in the kitchen, and the colours look like they'll all be wonderful. And thanks for that bit about the contour gauge, which I didn't even know existed, but will solve a problem I have here with some trim! Ordered one straight away. You do have such a beautiful château, I love its symmetry and style, and that view is one of the best.

  12. The new colors are fantastic and so enriching for such a grand place as Chateau Avensac! Mark and Phillip you have wonderful taste and I cannot wait to see how you dress the rooms after the renovations are completed. "Judy" was amazing once again as she brought us a chuckle with her appearance. I have to tell you that my best friend that I taught school with for years was "Judy!" She was an amazing story teller and brought a chuckle to folks each day with her stories. I'm reminded of her each time I watch the "Judy Show" because both your Judy and mine are so much alike!! Her memory lives on each time I see "The Judy Show" and it brings a warm chuckle within my heart. She was an amusing character and greatly loved. Thank you so much for that memory!

  13. Fabulous colours, how wonderful to be featured in the media ….so exciting. Love to you both and Judy, she must be worked to the bone keeping the press at bay.

  14. The tiles and paint in the kitchen are perfect! As well as the library. Everyone is doing a fantastic job at completing the projects.❤
