Our latest episode charts some of the highlights of chateau life, together with one of the biggest lows. However, despite everything, we also share the sliver lining that awaits us this year, as we continue with the renovation in spite of continued set backs and heart break.

A great channel so interesting!
After watching a lot of videos with chateaus and other stone buildings, I've started to come to understand how destructive water can be when you have stone walls… Especially ones damaged by vines. Have you considered the possibility of fixing the outer walls and roof bit by bit or even just fix half the roof first? I'm just thinking that getting a loan for a smaller amount might be easier than the full amount and though of course I see the difficulties with it, maybe you can cut costs by doing some parts of it yourself? Since you now saw the problems with driving rain, maybe it might be a good idea to actually have a barrier on the roof even though these roofs typically don't have that. And of course – I'm absolutely not a professional. I'm just a random engineer on the internet pondering a problem and possible ways to think about solutions.

Oh no! What a nightmare you went trough! 😢 We've hade some leaks in our 103 y.o. house too. But not in that scale. So I can definitely imagine how you were feeling. I wish so much for you that your London flat gets sold soon so you can focus on that roof and get waterproof! 🙏 I hope there were no serious nor expensive damage done to your work so far. Did I understand it right that the cost for a new roof will cost about 250.000 euros? 🫣 I hope not. That is an insane amount of money! 😬 I cross my fingers that the rest of the restauration will process without too much surprises! 🤞 And again: Noah is adorable ❤ And the giggle at the end.. Babygiggle is one of the loveliest sounds in the world 😍 Take care all of you ❤

I’m so sorry for all the damage the rain & winds have done, for you & for so many others! Sometimes events happen that can be very discouraging and then.., we hear the laughter of a sweet child & we find some joy in the midst of it all ❤
