I also think you should have cleaned the stone part of the fence before painting the iron part so it doesn’t look neglected. At least the top part since the inside will be covered by the orange foliage.
Beautiful finishing work on THE FENCE AND GATE! Very nice ideas for the back garden raised beds and wooden cladding for walls and deck! I love it all and you are wise to start now. I wouldn't worry about what kind of shade plants undet the trees..lawn of grass may be fitting with the yew hedges and flowering magnolias. Fabulous large ceramic pots of begonias could be moved around for spots of color by the front door! Definitely no dining or seating until the front hedge is very tall. Have fun, and Happy New Year 2025 to you both. Great property!
The gravel path at front will track gravel into the entry of your home. This will damage floors. Better to use a laid stone path at the entry to eliminate the gravel coming inside.
Front garden suggestions; benches and orbs if English/structural garden. Plants; boxwood topiaries, coleus for colors, heucheras and hostas, maybe. Not sure what growing zone you are in. Looking forward to following your renovations.
Hostas grow well in shade. A variety of colours and textures to choose from too. Very low maintenance (dies off in winter/regrows in spring) and can be a striking show when mature. You could mix with terracotta pots to vary height.
Yew usually smells good… to bring cuttings inside in the winter
Can you save $$$ and put the gravel over the existing stone or concrete walkways ??? You may need to add in an edge to stabilize the gravel.
In the back paved area where you spoke of keeping your orange trees … if in a budget now or future add in a pitch glass greenhouse roof and side with a WIDE door for ease of access
Kudos to you both for transforming your external space with such aplomb. Soil moving looks back-breaking but will provide the back garden with much needed loam. The gate and railings now really frame the house and give it back its original feel. All you need is a comfortable bench and rocking chair at the front to while away the hot summer afternoons while your vegetables flourish. As for shaded areas, try shade-loving perennial herbs (camomile, parsley etc).
The house is beautiful..I think a brick or stone terrace in the back would keep in with the homes age unlike the wood terrace flooring. Just my opinion.

Antes del jardín, yo sugiero lavar con máquina las paredes y orillas de las rejas. Todo el concreto.‼️😊

This was great. Don’t get discouraged, slow and steady. Thank you for sharing.

Can you have underground drainage system installed… if you have water issues this something to address as soon as possible
