055 We are spoiled with delicious mexican food being from California. This week, we give an update on what we can actually find in our local French grocery store. Also, we give an update on the fruit trees we planted one year ago.
Thanks again for watching,

Description of Us:
We are a couple of American Francophiles who have come to truly appreciate so many things about French culture. We love the food, wine, art, and history of France, but especially the people we have met along the way. Join us as we make our dream of living in France a reality. Follow us as we explore the French living and a new life there with our beloved dog, Bernice. We enjoy learning about stone house renovation, wine, cooking, brocante shopping, and the French community we are now a part of.

You need to plant more than one of your fruit trees so they can cross.
Apples are self-unfruitful. Plant at least two different apple tree varieties within 50-100 feet of one another for a good fruit set. Some apple varieties, such as Golden Delicious, will produce a crop without cross-pollination from a second variety. However, best fruit production occurs when two or more apple tree varieties are planted in the same general area.
Muito obrigada por compartilhar a vida de vocês na França.
A Bernice não sente frio??☃️❄️
Ela não gosta de usar roupas ??❤
I like the french fruit cordial in the long tin bottles – delicious. Also the gratin dish you get in the markets, along with langoustines 😊
What's happening with the land you bought at the back of you?
Welcome back to France. How do prices compare USA to France? Whisky is cheaper here than in the UK. How about tequila for you?
2:29 : Near the Peanut Butter you have Clément Faugier crème de marrons which is Chestnut spread, a specialty from the Ardèche department. It is delicious mixed with Cottage cheese (fromage blanc).
Don't worry about the rhubarb, it's normal for it to disappear completely in winter.
Tequila is not a thing here, though in specialty liquor shops you can usually find some good ones …I buy a nice bottle every time I go to Spain 😉 I make my own salsas…homemade, fresh is always better than in a jar…. especially in summer with garden tomatoes. Rhubarb always comes back !
You didn't do badly with your veg patch last year. The best thing to do is cover a good sized area with cardboard and bark chips over winter and it'll be ready to go in Spring. There's a lot of grass there to compete with your plants and you’ll get better results if you can eliminate more of it.
The quality of ready meals in France is way above anything you get in the UK. That Old El Paso range is in every UK supermarket too. I'm sure it's a pale imitation of the real Mexican cuisine 😄
Thank you for the updated tour :)!! Always fun. Would appreciate if you could please show us the prices of the products you show – a shopping trip is very useful it is includes pricing but very hard to make value out of in the planning process if no prices, since if something is $20 it has s a very different value than is it is $2, etc. Glad the trees are doing well! Greetings from my newly planted thornless blackberry 🙂
Our rhubarb up here in Washington has disappeared too, that's what it does. It will reappear in Spring. Are you going to cloche it?
