If you live in France, take time and appreciate the beauty you're surrounded with.
It's break taking.
Beautiful Paris my next holiday destination ❤
Lucile I’m so thrilled I found you. I am due in Paris on Oct 26th with a group of fellow artists with our art coach! This will be my first time to Paris! By the way I am a Lucille also with two l’s. Most people call me Lucy though. Thx for the great tips! I hope to walk everywhere as I have no idea how to use the transit system there. Agh! . A little nervous about that! Anyway, thanks for the great channel!
3:34 those fries look good, do you have chocolate mouse bars over there instead of actaul bars?
Hey, MDR 😂 y a pas tous les américains qui vont aimer notre pâté de campagne à la-mords-moi-le-nœud, faudrait quand même leur dire où se trouvent les Burger King et Mcdo !!! On est champion pour ça aussi !!! 😅😘
Thanks, nice video
I really love your authentic videos. Thanks and keep em coming!
How things have changed in Paris since I was a child. You are correct that the streets are pretty empty in the morning. But growing up, the shopkeepers would open at dawn, close for three to four hours in the afternoon, and then open in the late afternoon and stay open until about 8pm. Also back then almost all the shops were literally open in the front. The charcuterie, the boucherie, the fromagerie. The only shops which always had a curtain wall front were the boulangeries. About French onion soup, which in France is just called soupe à l'oignon. It is already French by virtue of it being served in France. So for decades it was common to go to Au Pied de Couchon right next to Les Halles after going to the opera (back then it was always at the Palais Garnier). Les Halles was where the vendors from all over Paris would go to purchase or pick up their produce to sell at their stand, or venue. It was open all night and Au Pied de Couchon was also open all night at least until Les Halles stopped being to place to distribute produce. That function has been moved to the suburbs. They don't stay open 24 hours now, but close. They are open until 5am! So what did Au Pied de Couchon serve all these opera goers? Soup à l'oignon. And it is GOOD there! I suspect that French onion soup originated as food for peasants, but since it is so good, became part of the French lexicon of great food.
Superb, solid advice, except maybe about the pottery painting… I visited Paris for two weeks, on winter, and hardly went indoors, there was so much to see, pulling me to the next corner. Always go to the little, neighborhood cafe, in the middle of the block. And be kind to Parisians, most see more than they'd prefer of tourists, so some kindness and humility will get you a long way.
I'm coming to Paris in August 2025 for a few days ahead of doing a bicycle tour in the Loire Valley. I will have 3 days to explore. I had already seen recommendations for Bouillon Pigalle as a dinner option instead of eating before the show at Moulin Rouge. Definitely my kind of place. Both of the dishes you showed looked amazing! I do not intend to do any museum time. I'm not saying museums aren't interesting places but if one has only 2 or 3 days it's better to be out among the people and the city. I'd only add a museum visit if I was in Paris for more than a week. There will be a photo or three of the Eiffel Tower in my phone during my stay. I get what you're saying but it's just so … iconic Paris. Like the Statue of Liberty in the New York Harbor in the U.S. … another thing we owe to the French. I'll get a refrigerator magnet or two that include it as well. I'm not particularly interested in going up the tower either. I want to strike a balance between seeing some of the iconic sights, like Notre Dame and the Arc de Triomphe and doing the people watching you talk about. The only question is can I resurrect some of my very old high school French (50 years ago!). At least the pleasantries. 😊
Paris is NOT the place to rush, rush, rush while on a tour. I did years ago and had a panic attack. Fortunately, the tres chic lady Dr. came to my hotel room to give me ultra chill pills. She said NO ONE IN PARIS RUSHES.
Merci beaucoup Lucile! Tres useful! Merci! Are there pescatarian restaurants? ~~ XO
Brit here. I adore France. Been holidaying their since I was a kid.
Its fun discovering it as an adult, and I LO-OV-OVE the Alpes 🎉😊
Only 48 hours would be really unsatisfactory;))
Another beautiful place to visit, is the Opera. My cousin took me there, after a 7 hour flight. It's gorgeous. Last summer, I spent a lot of time at the Luxembourg Gardens. I would go there, and rest, for a hour, or two, after walking around the city. Very relaxing. The Medici Fountain, is beautiful.
Super….super…super…you're hot.
Onion soup: that's not true, it's something you eat after a night partying to help sobering up, for instance.
And there are some great onion soups especially with cheese (that quaint cheese restaurant on rue Mouffetard between rue Saint Medard and rue Ortolan used to have a great one with grated cantal, if memory serves)
In amongst all the cheesy glitzy wide eyed tours of Paris I found yrs & that was a great find
Ah, when you’re gluten free you cannot just go to a bakery😿😿
That's why Istanbul to me is the world most beautiful city along with Rio de Janeiro
hi Lucile.. speaking of walking how many steps a day on average people are raking? i need to prepare my steps game 😂 thanks!
The cooler is designed for heat exposure!
A few dos and don'rs from an Anglophile Briton with sixty years of experience in visitng all parts of France.
Do :
– Teach waitresses in smart luxury hotels to ask American gentleman visiting with their wives "ow iz eet 'anging?"
– Cook your snails before eating them
– Try to imitate that much-loved and great French artist Le Petomane in every occupied lift you enter
– Tell every other driver in Paris who irritates you, "encules-toi"
_ If you have a dog in Paris behave exactly like a Parisian and encourage it to defecate on the pavement outside ideally a boulangerie and if one cannot be reached in time, a patisserie.
Do not :
– Be sick from the top floor of the Eiffel Tower, no matter what you have been eating
– Say in a loud voice in any language when visiting the tomb of Napoleon, "he was such a little man wasn't he"?
– Kick your cat in front of the locals in the street but wait until you get home to do that
– Call the (male) patron of your favourite bar "Ma biche". At least, not in public.
Wonderful video, I'm doing some research on Paris because I hope to be able to go on a student exchange in a few years, my stay in the city would be quite long if I manage to go for 1 year so there would be plenty of time to explore the city, but I really want to prepare myself to truly enjoy it, take memories for myself so that I can remember a wonderful experience like I’m sure this one would be. I would really like to live and ~experience~ Paris for what it is, how exciting. Thanks for what you share with us, new subscriber!
How is it possible that your American boyfriend looks even more French than you 😂?
Racelette is from Switzerland😂
Steak-frites isn't French. It's Belgian 🙂
