  1. I am such a big Fan of yours. First I tried to buy your books but couldn't since I stay in India. Then I asked a friend of mine from UK Anusuya Khan / Pawan To buy your books and post it to me and they did. I hope it reaches me by end of the year. I am so excited to have your books in my hand try all your recipes. On my anniversary I made your sponge cake with chantili cream which came to perfection. My husband thanks you to make his wife a good cook. I hope in future you can come up with some veg substitutes as most of the time we are vegetarian. So Excited 🎉🎉

  2. Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year Mr Kirkwood & family ✨🎄❄️⛄🎅🦌🛷🎁✨

  3. Arthritis: the gift that keeps on giving. Beautiful bread, John. Have a wonderful Christmas and all the best to you and yours 🎄 Cheers!

  4. That is an amazing loaf of bread. My wife and I very nearly ate the entire loaf right from the oven. Merry Christmas to you and your family.

  5. Just made this John. Absolutely delicious……

could you please tell how to freeze this?

    Thankyou so much.

  6. Hello ,

  7. Just rewatched Total Recall. That loaf pic looks like the "Start The Reactor" button complete with alien hand print 😊

  8. John I made this and it turned out so good! This one taught me why I was struggling with scoring bread. I wish I could show you a picture of this loaf. I am so proud of it. My house smells like baking bread two days a week because of you. And I have branched off into cheese making, clabber, backsplash whey, and fermented grape yeast, etc. It is amazing how once you get the connections of how food is supposed to work, it opens up a whole new world. Fermentation. It alllll started with your "How to make a sourdough starter" video. It is still going strong since just into 2022.

  9. Thank you so much for the fantastic instructional video, John! Videos like the ones you and Chef Jean-Pierre make where you explain not only what to do, but WHY you do it are so incredibly invaluable. Knowing why you need to do something helps people not only understand the recipe at hand, but also gives them the tools to apply techniques in places where they haven't been explicitly told to and expand their abilities. So again, thank you for these fantastic videos, and a Merry Christmas to you and yours!

  10. Thank you for sharing your knowledge and recipes! Happy Holidays to John, his family and everyone enjoying his videos!!

  11. John you have a merry Christmas you have taught me a few recipes this year hope you and yours have a great new year as well

  12. I`ve been following your recipes for a while now John, from puds to pies and breads too. I made this one yesterday and I have to say it's the best bread I have ever made. Perfect for sandwiches, perfect for toast, it's just like the bread my mother used to make when I was growing up which I`ve never really been able to replicate, until now.

Thank you for the marvellous Christmas present John, hope you have a great Christmas and a happy new year!

  13. John, I made this loaf last night and I must say it was spectacular. Have a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year. Thanks for all the great videos. ( I’m hoping Santa brings me an upgraded stand mixer, mine struggled with the kneeding, I’m looking at the Kitchen Aid heavy duty 🙏)

  14. Just made this boule. Fantastic recipe as usual John, taste and texture wonderful!

  15. Made this using my mixer, then made 2nd a few days later by hand. The hand made one is much lighter, better quality…lovely bread, will be making this along with your wholemeal loaf…merry xmas to you & family. Thank you John

  16. Dear John in England. Merry Christmas to you. Question: What are the differences to your previous receips, such as Old English Bloomer, or Extra Large White Loaf, etc.? Best wishes from your baker friend in Vienna. Bernhard.

  17. I’ve attempted, it’s on the second rise now.🫣😬🤞🏻🙄🙏
