In this video, I share the recipe for a delicious Tartiflette, a classic dish from Savoie in the French Alps. 🏔️

🧀 Made with layers of tender potatoes, caramelized onions, and creamy Reblochon cheese, this hearty meal is perfect for chilly evenings and gatherings with loved ones.

Tartiflette embodies the comforting essence of Alpine cuisine, bringing warmth and tradition to your table. Whether you’ve visited Savoie or dream of exploring the French Alps, this recipe is a wonderful way to experience the region’s culinary heritage.

Recipe for Tartiflette:
Ingredients:
– 1.2 kg (2.6 lbs) potatoes
– 200 g (7 oz) smoked bacon or lardons (optional, omit if not using)
– 1 large onion
– 1 whole Reblochon cheese (about 500 g/1 lb)
– 1 tbsp butter (for greasing)
– Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions:
1. Peel the potatoes, cut them into slices, and boil them in salted water until tender but firm. Drain and set aside.
2. In a large skillet, sauté the finely chopped onion in a little butter until soft and translucent. If using, add the smoked bacon or lardons and cook until lightly browned.
3. Preheat your oven to 200°C (390°F). Grease a baking dish with butter. Layer half of the sliced potatoes in the dish, season with salt and pepper, then spread the onion (and bacon if using) mixture over the top. Add the remaining potatoes.
4. Cut the Reblochon cheese in half horizontally, then place the halves (cut side down) on top of the potatoes.
5. Bake for 25-30 minutes, or until the cheese is melted, golden, and bubbling.
6. Serve immediately, accompanied by a crisp green salad and a glass of white wine from the region.
