It’s important to us that our viewers know that this was a self funded experience. We paid for our wine, food, and travel ourselves and this video is an honest reflection of our experience at the Pluckemin Inn.

In this episode of Our Pour Decisions, we take a roadtrip to New Jersey to visit on of the Wine Spectator Grand Award winning restaurants, the Pluckemin Inn. In the video, Sean Price, the sommelier at the Pluckemin Inn gives us a tour of their 3 story wine tower. We also meet the wine director, Brian Hider, who tells us the story of how the Pluckemin Inn came about.

  1. So cool!! What treat. I have that Lopez in my cellar 🤩 along with their gran reserva blanco. I’m thinking I should look for that Selosse…..I’ll need to make a trip, I’m only 6 hours away. Great place and video.

  2. The inn looks great and I really like their French wine list from the online retail arm of it, too. I'm right in Boston so I'll have to give them some business soon enough. Very deep Loire Valley selection and the prices are right in line with the market, and even on the lower side in most cases.

Loved the video and thanks for featuring them!

  3. You might have to stick to screw tops with your luck when it comes to bad corks!

On a different note, it is good to see there are a few places that have more reasonable markups on wine. The wine industry is worried about the long-term trend of lower consumption, and restaurants charging 200%-300% markups are not helping to reverse that trend.

  4. Amazing episode 😍
Loved the food; the atmosphere; the professionalism of the staff and the astronomical selection of wine. Thank you guys, cheers 🍷🎉

  5. One of your best videos! That was really fun and interesting to learn about the restaurant and seeing it's collection. The dinner with wine at the end was great and you should have more episodes like this. Man, Stacey is going to be mad and/or jealous that she wasn't invited. B is correct that oysters are dead once they're shucked but it's so fresh that it's really splitting hairs. And B talking with a mouth full of fries got me to lol. I played it back three times and still have no idea what she was trying to say. I guess that's what you get at the end of the night with multiple glasses of wine.
We need more restaurants like this where the wines are not marked up to ridiculous prices. I love wine as much as Pops but won't order bottles if they go for 3-4 time retail. I hate restaurants that gouge on wine and either bring my own bottle, order something else, or just patron other restaurants that don't do that.

  6. What a great video and idea. You all put out such well thought out content.

    Happy holidays 🍷

  7. Sean is my best friend, I’m so glad you guys decided to do this video! I know he really enjoyed working with you guys and this video was very well made and informative!

  8. Really enjoying the content, even if the wines are often out of my reach. Also visiting that part of NJ in a few weeks for work and had no idea this place was there. Super excited to visit!!!

  9. There is a norwegian guy called Rune Rake that has the term "the Selosse feeling", I think you got that feeling.

  10. What a great video. I enjoyed the content and I think me and “Dad” would get along well. Cheers from one oenophile to another… 🍷

  11. I had Vina Tondonia 2011 recently. Very very tannic still. And Pop might still work on his German pronunciation…Gewächs does not sound like "wax" in the end😃But a very interesting video. Production on the road has its challenges so kudos to you!

  12. So nice, really loved watching this episode. And when I am in the area, will definitely put this on my list !! Incredible big wine inventory, but I would get crazy finding bottles there 😂. And loved your choices: great Riesling, great champagne, great Cheval ❤ !!

  13. So you do read the comments and draw conclusions – now I don't even need to know what you do in life to afford such a cellar, I completely understand why you can. Keep up the good work and salute from a fellow WSET guy!

  14. This place looks amazing! Thanks for sharing. One restaurant you should try is Troquet On South in Boston, amazing list and their prices are very reasonable.

  15. Lopez Heredia is a legend! Even their entry level (crianza) Vina Cubillo is an absolut treat. Thanks for the video.

  16. Christmas came early! Always get excited when a see a new video from Our Pour Decisions. Thank you for the continued great content

  17. As a avid wine collector from Norway, with a 2 Yo daughter I realy appreciate your content. I hope I can share the same moments with my daughter as you guys do.

Specially looking foreard to share the birthyear (2022) Richebourg, Angelus, Haut Bailly, Palmer and Latour woth her!

  18. This is an amazing video. As a person who loves wine AND food this is fantastic. And my favorite part of this video was that it was clear that the two, three, of you were so genuinely enjoying the experience.

  19. I’m a foodie and a wine lover so this is easily the best video you two have made but I have loved all the cellar tours. Keep them coming!!!

  20. Hi, you guys are seriously underrated!
As a newbie, I’ve gotta ask—what do you do with the leftover wine? If you open 4-5 bottles and don’t get totally hammered, does the rest just go down the drain?

  21. Its a pitty you didnt get to enjoy tondonia, its a very particular wine, not my favoutite but still very special. Let me recomend some if you dont mind: barón de chirel 2014, castillo ygay 2012, obviously vs único 2011 is already good, contino viña el olivo, and finnaly alabaster 2020, although young, you can start to enjoy it.

  22. Wow you had a Keller wine, amazing! Like you I also get so excited when I go to a restaurant with a great wine list at great prices, here in Europe you find those more often near wine regions, just for my birthday recently went to one that only charged 10 above retail for a 50 German Pinot Noir, literally like candy shop for adults 🙂
